    • Comfortable Inn

The Rookwood Inn is a lovely respite form the city life. Breakfast is delicious with more choices than we could ask for. Amy is a lovely hostess and has great ideas for sightseeing in the area. The decor in the Inn and the rooms are lovely with a romantic feel. We saw two concerts at Tanglewood and for first timers it was a fun experience. There are tons of things to do in the area from walking trails to hiking, museums to delicious dinners. I highly recommend the Rookwood Inn. I can see why so many people are getting married there.

My wife and I stayed here when we had a snafu with our other lodgings in the area. Despite it being short notice and only for a single night, the hostess was very friendly and accommodating and rearranged the cleaning schedule to let us check in early. The price was a bit higher than expected, but it was short notice and we got air conditioning on a beastly hot day, so I won't complain too much. (And there was apparently a show at Tanglewood that weekend, which might explain the high prices we saw across hotels in the area at that time.) The house is a rambling old Victorian with tons of character and a lot of rooms. Parking can get a bit tight, they say (we didn't have a problem), but there is free public parking within a stone's throw of the house. Our room had a really nice raised four-poster bed that we found very comfortable, and it was decorated with antiques and a number of fun touches. Our bathroom did require a step down - one of the eccentricities of such a house being converted to a B&B, I suppose. The hostess provided lemonade and iced tea with cookies and cakes as an afternoon refresher, which was perfect - my wife and I came back from walking around town in the 90-degree heat and relaxed in the living room with some snacks and cold drinks to go along with our books. It was perfect! The dining room was a bit tight for space, and they have so many rooms that they have three scheduled breakfast shifts that you sign up for the night before. The main course wasn't to my liking, but there were enough other selections that I had no trouble crafting a filling breakfast from what was offered. All in all, we had a very positive experience and would consider reserving at this establishment again in the future.

We returned on Wednesday, July 31 from our first, but by no means last, stay at the wonderful Rookwood Inn. After ten years at another B&B which was sold last year and no longer fit our needs, I looked at write-ups and descriptions of several inns early last winter, and phoned this one simply as a way to start my search. But my search ended after a few minutes of conversation with the proprietor-innkeeper, Amy Lindner-Lesser. And our hopes were well rewarded. We had a wonderful, immaculate, comfortable and beautiful suite on the first floor, and all of our needs in the room were filled before we could even express them: bottles of water for our days out in the Berkshires, lots of tissues, soft, cozy towels and lots of them, an exceptionally comfortable bed, even a private outdoor porch where we had our first cup of (fabulous) coffee every morning. Breakfast was delicious, unusual and beautifully presented every day, and we felt as though Amy and her wonderful second, Jenny, were our new-found family. We came home each evening to lemonade or the hot drink of our choice, cookies and other treats. And the location was perfect and convenient. We hated to leave, and plan to return to see the autumn splendor, and to visit our new-found friends.

We stayed for a weekend for an event at Tanglewood. Our room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The innkeeper was gracious and friendly. The location is perfect as we were able to walk to dinner. A very short drive to Tanglewood. Also walkable to Tanglewood. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

Just returned from my fourth stay at the beautiful Rookwood Inn. It never disappoints. Spotlessly clean and beautifully furnished, the inn is located in a prime location. It's a short walk to the quaint shops and restaurants in Lenox. The landscaping is beautiful which makes for relaxing on the porch even more enjoyable. Amy is a wonderful hostess. Her knowledge of the area, as well as her gourmet breakfasts, are a tremendous boon. She is a great source to tap into. The Rookwood feels like home. A beautiful, warming home that welcomes it's visitors. I look forward to returning.
