Really disappointed with our stay here on the last night of our hols.. The place felt shabby and in need of a good spruce up. The TripAdvisor recommended awards seemed to date from at least 4 years ago and you need to stay on your game in this business. Hubby's steak was really well cooked however I'm still trying to find the fish in my pie... In fairness we raised the room issues with them and they refunded us a bottle of wine... But a room rate of 140 was well overpriced for what we got even with the beautiful location

    • Pub with rooms facing the loch.

The inn is well situated facing the loch and only about 5 miles from Loch Lomond. It is a pub with rooms rather than a hotel. Our room was pleasant though on the small side for a stay of several days. The large restaurant was very popular, but the food was badly let down by "seasonal" vegetables which were clearly frozen and then not properly cooked. We would have done better with dishes that came with chips. Later on in our holiday we had a similarly priced dinner in another pub with rooms that was entirely better, so it can be done. Food portions, especially at breakfast, were very generous. Avoid a table near the pass door to the kitchen as the constant staff traffic on a squeaky floor was annoying. Like other reviewers, we had trouble with the internet, mostly due to intermittent connection.

Arrived at 7pm to find no space in car park for paying guests. Hotel room was clean with nice view of loch..but very hot even with windows open and all heaters off. Bar staff friendly and accommodating and beer nice in cosy setting. But despite reserving table and ordering promptly, food came out cold. Had to send it back and re-order from seafood pie option...just in case. We did get an apology but had to wait for food for a long while. No discount offered.Breakfast next morning much better. This place has its merits given lovely location and nice pub...but sort out issues in restaurant.

Really nice hotel, friendly staff and beautiful room with a gorgeous view. The vegan dinner menu had a good few options and the food itself was absolutely delicious. Vegan options for breakfast was a little bit of a let down after such a lovely dinner with few options but overall a great stay.

    • A great place to spend a few days!

If you get tired of tiny rooms in city hotels and would also like good food and friendly service, this is your place! Walk out the front door and embrace the beauties of Nature! Loch Long is a great place for sailing. I suppose most people arrive here by car but if you don't - you are now at Arrochar-Tarbet station, more than a mile from here. So carry their phone number, and arrange to be picked up at the station well in advance. You need to reserve times for dinner.
