Great location and great staff. Rooms were spacious with big comfy beds, bathroom modern with a very powerful shower. The complex is small and private and has a great pool and restaurant. The food at the restaurant was great and reasonably priced. Would highly recommend staying here

    • Beautiful Property Near SJO

We stayed at this resort after flying into SJO and before our flight home. Both rooms we stayed in were lovely. My husband and I both agreed they had the most comfortable beds of our trip. We were travelling with a family of 6 and it was hard to find a place to accommodate all of us together. This hotel had several rooms that worked. The price was also much better than getting several smaller rooms at another hotel. We really enjoyed the beautiful grounds and the Costa Rican open air lobby and breakfast area. Although this property is close to SJO it was quiet and we felt very safe. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone!

    • Wonderful Service and the Restaurant is Great. Great place to stay near San Jose

We stayed in March of 2019 for 4 nights. It was a base for us to leave with our birdwatching guide every day, and the hotel was a very nice place to spend our evenings. All the staff is very warm and welcoming, and they were all customer service oriented. We had a room in the bigger building up the hill, on the second floor. I think it was room 23. We had a lovely balcony looking out towards the volcano, and it was nice to sit there for a bit before going to dinner. The bed was very comfortable. There was a ceiling fan that was plenty most nights, but there was also an AC unit you could turn on if you needed to cool off. The room was nicely appointed with a nice sofa and chair for lounging, and a big armoire and several storage areas for your thingsand also a LOT of storage areas. In the downstairs area there was a refrigerator where you could put your own water and drinks. There was also a very sweet night clerk who would have a piece of banana bread and some fruit for us when we left too early for the included breakfast each morning. The restaurant had some of the best food we had at lodges/hotels during our 17 days in Costa Rica. Because it was often late when we got back from birding, and we had early mornings to go back out birding, we didnt want to leave to go to another restaurant. And, there was no need. The food was very good. Their loaded patacones were different from others we had had, and I think my husband ate them three times! They also had some creative cocktails, and one evening it was nice to come over and have a cocktail sitting poolside (just outside their restaurant) before dinner. Laundry was incredibly cheap as well, so as we were in the middle of a long trip we had several loads done. Villa San Ignacio is not your cookie cutter hotel experience. You will feel like you are in Costa Rica, not a Hampton Inn that could be anywhere in the world (not that there is anything wrong with Hampton Inn!)

    • Very nice for the money great service and beautiful grounds

We stayed here one night after flying into San Jose before heading to Arenal. Beautiful grounds, great price, great breakfast, everyone was very friendly. Would stay again. Small place and very private. Not touristy but very welcoming. No restaurants nearby but a cute restaurant on site.

    • Highly recommended

Really nice start to our 2 weeks in Costa Rica. The room was minimalist, but pleasant. However, the rest of the hotel was really good. The pool is excellent and the staff are really friendly and helpful. It's not particularly easy to eat elsewhere so you're likely to use the restaurant, but that's fine because it's pretty good. Food was reliable but happy hour cocktails were really excellent. Breakfast was also decent. In fact, we had booked another place closer to the airport for our final night (after the 2 week circuit), but before we left after the first 2 nights we decided to book another night with them at the end and cancel our other accommodation in Alajuela town. It was very nice to come back to this place for a final relaxing afternoon and evening before leaving
