    • Great stay

My family and I stayed here for 3 nights in September. The property, especially the pool deck, is beautiful. 95% of the staff that we interacted with were trained very well. The rooms were nice if not a little outdated (this isn't too surprising given the age of the property). The layout is a bit disjointed so I wouldn't be surprised if room quality varies depending on which one you're given. I'd definitely stay here again on subsequent trips to Lyon.

We stayed here for one night only on our way to the WSB race in Magny Cours. The location is fantastic, near the top of a hill, overlooking Lyon. The basilica Norte Dame is above you, a steep climb, but so worth it. Our room was a bit disappointing, having paid for a junior suite, there was absolutely no view. However the staff were lovely and the terrace delightful. We did not eat here as the restaurant was fully booked, but in Lyon, with so many options it was no problem.

I know this place from several visits in the past, (2003 to 2009) and in general did not change to better. The overall performance and quality was better in the past. Before it was worth to drive 150 km more, to now better choose another place to enjoy a nice evening and stop over

The Villa Florentine is a remarkably enjoyable experience, It's proximity to the Old City, the views of the city, the dining, and the service is beyond compare. I don't think I could ever be happy visiting Lyon in the future and not stay at the Villa Florentine. They set the bar so high, I don't think I could be as happy anywhere else. The staff was amazingly friendly and helpful, especially given our limited French vocabulary. Each dining experience was spirited, fun, uniquely delicious and unforgettable. Looking forward to a future visit!

Near the Gallo-Roman Museum of Lyon-Fourvire and the Fourviere igleis, the panoramic view of Lyon never gets old. The breakfast buffet is lovely and the terrace views are unbeatable. Like all breakfast buffets though, the price/value ratio is poor. On top of that, there are very few options for breakfast in old Lyon. Drink service at the pool area is great. Not so much in the reception area if you want something around happy hour. The restaurant is closed sundays and Mondays which are the same days that many restaurants are closed. I did manage to find a nice bouchon that was open in old Lyon (chez grand mere) but consider how many customers you could serve because they have a lot fewer options on those days. Room service is available but it is not the same. Splurged for an upgraded room on a lower floor and it was lovely but at close to $500 a night with taxes, I cant justify it again when a basic room is a little smaller, and I get the same views on the lovely, quiet, common terrace. Sometimes the turn down service was after 9pm which is fine if the key is still at the reception desk (the common practice when leaving the hotel for the day or evening). But if we have entered the room after 9, we would just like to relax and go to bed. It may be a knit but at $500 a night, it matters. This was my second visit in three years.
