    • A really charming place to stay in Darjeeling

      Reviewed 28 February 2020

This heritage hotel has a lot of old-world charm to it, especially in the rooms. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food in the cosy restaurant downstairs (both breakfasts and dinners) were tasty. The only disadvantage was the temperature in the room - it was quite cold, but the mobile heater and the electric heated blanket helped to alleviate it. It is around 15 minutes walk slightly uphill from the main pedestrian area, in a tranquil location.

    • Well-maintained older-style property

      Reviewed 21 February 2020

Well-maintained 1907 property with heaps of character. Very obliging staff. Good bathroom with plenty of hot water. They turned on a radiating heater and an electric blanket for my arrival. Good dinner choices well-prepared The rooms are large and tall, so heating is an issue. In February with damp cold conditions, it was an uphill struggle to get the room heated. Not their fault - just a facet of an old building in a damp cold month. Breakfast was slightly random in terms of what they brought - the only real choice being the type of omelette. But you might get cornflakes with hot milk, and/or baked beans, bacon, chips, and sausages on the side. As well as toast, butter and jam. Need to decide and order dinner at least 45 minutes before sitting down to eat. Location is around 10-15 minutes from the main street, but only a 5 minute stepped pathway to the train station.

    • 10th anniversary celebration in Darjiling

      Reviewed 03 January 2020

I wanted to go to some hill station during our honeymoon. But alas could not get the chance then! So took the chance after 10 years. Planned for Darjiling as its perfect blend of romantic gateway, kids activities, world heritage site & the mighty Himalayas. We booked Hotel Villa Everest after reading review in TA. booking was hassle free (Online ). We booked it through & got good deal. We reached the hotel on 31st evening by 4 pm.I requested them for a decoration at room for our anniversary. They noted down all details & requested us to give the room for at least 45 mins. It was an wonderful experience for both of us. Even better than honeymoon! We enjoyed it with our kids. pros of the hotels : 1.Its a cute small colonial building 116 years old.But the way its maintained hats off to the owner. 2.The best staff.Every staff was very courteous & polite.Special mention to Nima & Sunny who made our stay so much comfortable that cannot be explain in words. All time smiling face. 3.Excellent food. The food is excellent, preparation is homely, quantity is sufficient.Special mention to the Parathas.I wanted to know the recipe. 4.Cleanliness -The Hotel is super-clean. 5.Parking -Because its small hotel with 8 rooms the parking facility is available for only 3 cars but they always adjust & help in parking. 6.View -From the rooms on the right side you have partial view of Himalayas as there is a big Pine tree. But I dont mind having a partial view with nicely decorated pine tree.At night looking down at village with twinkling light was a great experience.

    • Highly recommended at Darjeeling

      Reviewed 18 December 2019

Chose this place after reading traveler reviews. We, a family of three, had a nice experience. The 1904 property has only 11 rooms. Staff were very courteous & friendly (Neema in particular stood out, for us), rooms well kept including clean linen and the washroom. Manager Mr. Kailash helped us by arranging a vehicle for sightseeing at short notice, though demand was high due to weekend tourist footfalls. Our room was a 3 bed, as the reservation was done with extra bed. Food, in particular the breakfast, was tasty & sumptuous. The property is a bit away from the hustle and bustle of the marketplace, but quite walk able. We strongly recommend this property for stay at Darjeeling.
