    • Best hotel we booked in Myanmar, although a bit expensive

      Reviewed 29 August 2019

Very well located. Easy to reach both by road and boat. Pros: very well decorated, both inside and outside the room. The room provides natural and local beauty products such as thanaka (we highly recommend you to try them). Very comfortable bed and different types of pillows. Very nice service. Despite being more expensive than in the road, we booked our daytrips from the hotel given the higher quality (full day to kakku 50k kyats, trip to airport + day in pindaya 50k kyats, full day (from 7:30 to 18:00) boat trip in the lake including the furthest temples 25k in total for 4 people). Both the boat and taxi drivers, as well as the team in the reception and restaurant were extremely kind and helpful. Very good wifi. Amazing western breakfast. We fell in love with their dog btw. Cons: further to nice lake highlights than other hotels, however, very close to restaurants and markets (that was our priority). The second night they forgot to clean our room (not sure why). There were some works in the hotel so the swimming pool was not accessible by foot.

My Wife and I were pleased to stay here for a few days on our visit to the Lake Inle area. Very friendly welcome with free welcome drink, friendliness matched by all staff throughout our stay. Pretty main hotel area with very nicely presented first floor restaurant offering terrace dining options if wanted. Very nice food at dinner and breakfast, including a variety of Shan signature dishes. Rooms are reached via walkway over private lake. A touch of the "prefab" about them with quite small but perfectly adequate en suites but fully equipped (including air con) and entirely adequate including own sitting out area. Pleasant spa with reasonable range of treatments. Own "swimming pool" created out of part of the lake. Pleasant oasis in what is otherwise an unremarkable town, being what it is, a "gateway" to the Lake. Good value.

    • Crual towards animals

We stayed at the Viewpoint Ecolodge Hotel for 3 nights and I have to say that everything was put in place for a perfect stay : the rooms, the service as well as the restaurant. We ate well, slept well and been very well welcomed. It is one of the greatest hotel I have been during my 2 weeks stay. However, I have been shocked and hurt on how they treat dogs in this hotel. Some dogs in the streets were sometimes entering in the hotel and the staff always beat the dogs in the middle of the lobby, to make them run away. Those dogs cry and scream in the hotel and the staff has no pity for them, it is very cruel. One night we were at the restaurant and a member of the staff threw rocks to a dog who cried/shout for 20 minutes after. Maybe they have a different culture than mine, but we were really shocked on their behavior. When we shared our opinion to the staff, they were saying "it is outside dogs we have to beat them". Guys, why don't you just close the front doors if you don't want these dogs to enter in your hotel - as those "outside" dogs are running everywhere in the streets - instead of keep beating them during the whole day ?? It broke my heart to see how they treated animals and it has taken off my mind all the great assets & the potential of this hotel.

Very nice combination of little individual cottages built above le bras du lac away from the noise and the effervescence of the town. Special mention to the restaurant as well which was the nicest place we encountered around this area.
