    • A group of 15 and our thoughts...

      Reviewed 02 October 2019

My family and I stayed in the All Inclusive Victoria for 2 section of the hotel. This section as well as the main hotel is absolutely beautiful, great facilities, decor, services and beach! The beach certainly makes this hotel a wonderful place to stay and you have the options for water sports and day activities too which we enjoyed. Also the buffet... wonderful!! Ive seen a previous complaint about the stray animals which I dont think is correct as theyre more hotel pets than stray. There is only 2 dogs and a handful of cats which isnt a lot given the scale of the hotel. They are all incredibly sweet and clean. There is unfortunately one complaint which all 15 of us strongly agree on and experienced when dining together as a group as well as separately in couples. We were lucky if we ever got what we ordered. We are not sure whether its the waiters note taking or cooks understanding but 9 times out of 10 it wasnt correct. For example, at breakfast i ordered soft boiled eggs with tomatoes. I got the eggs with the potato my boyfriend ordered and he got scrambled egg with my tomatoes diced in it. Small mistake, though when the mistake happens on a daily basis it becomes irritating. Similarly my boyfriend ordered calamari starter which he paid extra for and absolutely loved it (deep fried with salad and sweet chilli sauce). So the next day he ordered the same and it came COMPLETELY differently (not battered, with tomato and olive sauce). There is no consistency between the different cooks. My sister ordered ravioli and got it with tomato sauce so I ordered it the next night as she loved it, I got it with cheese sauce. You dont know what youre going to get. I would like to say special thanks to Vinesh and Rak (fantastic restaurant/bar staff), Feroz (our lovely cleaner who did a beautiful job) and Sudhir (a top class diving instructor). Overall a beautiful place to be, though due to the consistent problems with food ordered over a 10 day period and quite a few staff not being all that welcoming, I wouldnt say 5* hotel.

    • A fantastic resort for a wonderful family holiday that ticked all the boxes

      Reviewed 02 October 2019

It took me a long time to decide which resort to choose for a special holiday trip with our children and grandchildren, but having just returned from Victoria Beachcomber I am so happy that I decided to book there. We were a group of 10, with our four grandchildren aged between 5 and 9. The two families stayed in ground floor rooms, while we oldies were in a first floor room where Ranjit looked after us very well. It was definitely a good choice for the families as they could enter from the beach side, making everything more easily accessible. The All Inclusive package is a must as it just simplifies everything. All the staff were friendly, helpful and full of smiles. I am not sure where the people whose reviews say otherwise were staying, but we didn't find anyone who fitted some of their descriptions of staff members who were unhappy or unhelpful. And we were there over South African school holidays which meant the resort was chock a block full, with lots of children of all ages. The kids club was good, although we didn't use it all the time. But it is useful to be able to take the little ones there occasionally, and know they will have fun. And the ladies running it were really lovely. Yes the food might not necessarily be considered gourmet style but there is plenty of variety and lots of tasty dishes to be found. We also went to La Casa twice and were never rushed and always made to feel special. Francois looked after us there. L'Horizon was also lovely and we enjoyed our meal there too. Even if the a la carte restaurants are fully booked, I would suggest you try for a table at the restaurant in the evening if you want to go, as there are often people who don't turn up and you might be able to organise a table. The beach vendors were friendly and not at all pushy. There is also a Max shop within walking distance if you want to buy other items and don't want to go to Grand Baie or Port Louis. The trip in the glass bottom boat was lovely and Mackean was very knowledgeable and helpful. The snorkeling trip was less successful as there weren't many fish around. But it was also lovely to just snorkel off the beach and spot the odd fish. We were so lucky with the weather - warm with just a light wind on some days and only one night where a short, light shower of rain caused them to cancel the kids film on the beach. All in all Victoria was the perfect resort for our family holiday. Something for everyone. Highly recommended.

    • Amazing Family resort with great atmosphere, best poolside service by Ravi Gassia

      Reviewed 02 October 2019

We travelled in a group of 14, 8 adults and 6 kids ( aged 3-9) and everyone had an amazing time. The resort is absolutely beautiful and has a great atmosphere. Best features for me was : Big rooms, great food and lots of activities for the kids, service of drinks and food by the pool by Ravi Gassia was a highlight - he was super nice and made our holiday so much more relaxing! We went to Beachcomber Mauricia and although it is a very nice hotel, we did not encounter the same vibe and family centered atmosphere there. We will definitely be visiting Victoria again. Room tip, get a ground floor deluxe room. You can walk in straight from the beach, no need to go around the back and take a flight or two of stairs to get to your room, really worth it. The ground floor rooms have also been renovated.
