We booked this resort because we wanted to relax/enjoy a spa treatment during our otherwise busy trip to Germany/Austria, and were blown away by both the resort and the town in which it's located. We enjoyed hiking in the morning (there are many great hiking trails within a short walk or drive of the resort) and then heading to the spa in the afternoon. The sauna that overlooks the lake was a highlight! Our only regret was not staying longer.

I have often visited Pertisau since I found out that it was the setting for the Chalet School books. We have always stayed at the Furstenhaus as it is mentioned in the text. While it is still a great experience I feel that it has lost some of it's magic. The breakfast while still excellent has problems in the fact that there are not enough staff and the buffet is not topped up. I was told more croissants would be 10 minuets they should have anticipated the need for more. The room was not cleaned to a high standard, glasses left dirty and bins not emptied. There are now 2 bars and the staff run between them it can take 20 minuets to get a drink. I always felt it was the best hotel in Pertisau now I am not so sure.

The hotel is excellent in many ways. Positive: Breakfast buffet has a lot of variety. They have an omelet / crepes station. Nice view of the lake from the breakfast area. The spa, sauna, relaxation, and pool area is fantastic. There is a joint indoor and outdoor pool with heated water. One can go into the water in the heated indoor area and swim outside, even if its quite cold. They also have a jacuzzi outside with a great mountain and lake view that one can swim into from the inside. The whole area is also very large and has many different places to relax. Staff are professional, helpful, and knowledgeable. Hotel is in very good condition. Location is excellent. Directly on the lake, multiple hiking options directly from the hotel, bike rental directly in the hotel, boat rental next to the hotel, ... Several nice minor services, such as free drinks in the fridge that are restocked every day (lemonade and mineral water); free umbrellas at the reception; free water and fruit near the entrance; and a small bag of sparkling and still mineral water upon checkout for the way home. Room for improvement: The hotel is quite expensive. Probably justified considering the hotel quality. The hotel charges 9 euro for parking which seems a bit greedy considering the elevated price. This should be included. The hotel is directly at the lake, but there does not really seem to be a nice swimming area / watersport area for the lake. The hotel room does not include a kettle to make tea or coffee in the room.

    • Dissapointed

What a disappointment my third visit to this hotel and standards have certainly slipped. Nothing major but little irritants. 1. The breakfast buffet service is not filled regularly the staff if told of missing items said it will be ten minutes. To long to wait for breakfast items. Staff should be aware and anticipate the need to replenish. 2. The waiters serving the tables at breakfast are not attentive enough to sitting customers, can take quite a time to attract ones attention to fill up milk or coffee. As the milk jugs provided on a table for two only has enough for one cup each it is very frustrating to have to keep trying to find a waiter/waitress to fill it up. 3. The evening service in the bar is pitiful sometimes having to wait ten minutes before seeing bar staff and perhaps up to five minutes to get a drink after that. We were offered an excuse they had opened a second bar in reception and the barman was busy there every night. Surely two bars need two barmen or alternatively if you cant staff it close one of them. 4. Bedroom service also seems a bit lacking a) One day ran out of tissues b) Another day bins not emptied c) Another day glasses not refreshed or washed. Overall for the price we paid I would have expected better. Overall the breakfast was good and the bedroom comfortable. The location especially with a lake view was perfect. Whilst I did have a loyalty to this hotel from my wifes interest in the way it starred in the books by Eleanor Brent-Dyer On my next visit to the area I will probably try elsewhere.

the staff, the restaurant and the spa deserve the five points, the rooms are a four, it was just not our taste. The welcome at the check-in very is warm and friendly. Spa facilities are almost perfect, lots of sauna choices, steam room, outdoor pool and an outdoor jacuzzi :) Breakfast is wonderful, choices and view are great, same for dinner, very good F&B quality. We had a perfect weekend!
