    • WOW! Great hotel

Spent 3 days in this wonderful hotel and everything about the stay was excellent. The standout was the staff. Somehow they were there when you needed them at peak times to sort lifts, transport, food service. The breakfast buffet was amazing. But Sally the Concierge needs a special mention. I visited her when I arrived and she gave me all the information (map, taxi card) plus went beyond in ringing my prebooked tour company to double check details thus ensuring that I was confident to explore this wonderful city and surrounds on my own. Many thanks.

    • Good location, comfy room

We stayed here for 3 nights as part of our Constellation Journeys tour. We were very pleased with our stay - our room was lovely and the bed was extremely comfortable. The toilet seat always took me by surprise as it was heated. I didnt experiment with any of the other things the toilet could do! There was plenty of space and the room had everything you would expect. The buffet breakfast had a huge variety on offer and everything was fresh and regularly topped up. We ate in the Italian restaurant in the hotel one night and enjoyed our food. The hotel is in a good location right in the centre of everything. My only criticism is that they have a card in the room to use if you want your towels changed. We deliberately never used the card however our towels were changed everyday.

    • Not Pleased At All!

Since this was our inaugural trip to Seoul, I had thought hard about where to stay. In the end, I decided to spend our first 2 nights in Dondaemun, and the remaining 2 nights here. While we were treated like royalty at the first hotel, the same cannot be said here. But lets start with the positives. The Westin is in the Myeongdong hub. So you will get all the shopping you can ask for within a stones throw of the hotel. Its a very touristy area, so the crowds can be overwhelming. But you also get street food aplenty. Thats all good if you love retail therapy and enjoy sampling street food. But personally, I disIike crowded places and there are only so many beauty product shops I have the patience for. The hotel itself is well maintained and if youre a Bonvoy Elite, the evening offering at the Executive Lounge is generous. For breakfast you can also choose between the lounge or the restaurant. At the restaurant, food quality is good and the variety ample. The subway is right in front of the hotels main entrance (not linked directly), and leads to 2 different lines, making it quite convenient to commute. Another feature I liked was when you tapped your key card to activate the lift, your floor automatically lights up - now why cant all hotels have this? Finally, we had the privilege of chatting with Victor from Concierge. He was candid and sincere, and we could feel that he genuinely wanted us to appreciate and enjoy Seoul. Now let me explain why the whole experience failed to impress. Firstly, our upgraded junior suite was merely a slightly more spacious room. My understanding of a suite is that the bedroom and living room areas are clearly separated areas, yet they insisted this was a one-bedroom suite. Just call it what it is, a premium room or plus-size room, but a suite it is not! I do not insist on an upgrade, but to call this a suite upgrade is in fact a bit of a scam. Secondly, the bathroom had mould on the ceiling that should have been cleaned and painted over long ago. Thirdly, and by far the worst thing on this stay, happened on our departure day. We had an 11pm flight and requested for a slightly later check-out than the 4pm granted to Bonvoy Elites. They offered us until 5pm, so we thought wed stay in the Executive Lounge while we waited for rush-hour traffic to ease off. But we were told no. Eventually they said we could stay in the lounge till 6:30pm but we could not partake in the evening hors doeuvres and drinks, unless we paid for it. Quite frankly, I have never heard of this in all my years as an top-tier elite member. On the few occasions when we had a late flight, we were always welcomed to use the lounge while we waited. In summary, it all felt very transactional here; what was lacking was the flexibility to offer a bit of comfort beyond the requisite stipulated benefits. We left at 5pm. I would never stay at the Westin Chosun again.

Very Good business hotel, in a great location for local restaurants and shopping. Room was very nice with all modern conveniences. Service also very good from check in to check out. The only disappointing thing was the breakfast charge W55,000 $US 47 for an average buffet breakfast was way overcharging. Would stay here again and either get breakfast included or go outside to one of the local cafes.

The rooms and overall hotel are dated. Nevertheless, the location directly at the beach is unbeatable, especially, if you take a room with ocean view. Staff, etc. as expected from a Westin. Would go again
