We were both given very cloudy beer and immediately asked for it to be changed but told no. Unfortunately we had already paid and although I asked on several occasions we were told there would be no refund or replacement. We had no alternative to leave it and go. We went to another pub round the corner and told them who were astonished at our treatment. I have never had this before and cannot believe the attitude of the woman behind the bar

Last minute booking and was fortunate to secure the last room in this great B&B above a great boozer! Jane, our host, providing excellent communications throughout the whole booking process and we were pleasantly surprised by the high standard of accommodation, facilities, a warm and friendly welcome from staff and locals in the bar and one of the best breakfasts I ever enjoyed! Thanks Jane....we'll be back!

    • Great place for families and couples to stay! Fab Landlady Jane!

My partner and I stayed for two nights. My three children, their partners, my seven grandchildren and two dogs joined us for a family occasion on the second night. The rooms were ideal for the families with children and it was an added bonus that the room in which my partner and I were staying had a living area. All rooms were very clean, comfortable and well presented. The weather that weekend was very chilly so we really appreciated the efficiency of the heating system. The enclosed courtyard is another useful and pretty space with an area solely for the use of resident guests. The pub is full of character, friendly and welcoming. Although it does not serve evening meals there a number of Takeaways to choose from and a convenience store next door. Location was ideal for us with just a short walk to the front. Car parking is available at the back of the pub and free on road parking is also available on one side of the street which was very convenient. The absolute star of the show though was Jane, the Landlady. She made us feel so welcome. She accommodated the comings and goings of my wider family who were not staying at The Royal Oak but used it as a meeting point and watering hole. She allowed us to move furniture around in the evenings to accommodate our group of up to 19 people and to eat our Takeaway in the Pub whilst we enjoyed a few nice pints. Breakfast was freshly cooked, ample, tasty and very reasonably priced. On an occasion that was a mixture of emotions for us all, we were there to scatter the ashes of my Aunt who was a very special lady, we really could not have hoped for better hospitality and kindness.

Great welcome, dog was welcome throughout the property. Room was clean and tidy (although the shower could be a little more powerful) and the room fan was very well received. Breakfast was decent. Will stay again when in Weymouth.
