    • Great affordable stay at the Ritz

Needed a place to stay 1 night in DC and needed something close to Arlington. This Ritz fit the bill. Located 10 min from DCA and 15 min from Arlington (Traffic dependent). The Ritz is built into a hotel so not a typical freestanding hotel. Heater area for the cool nights as you wait for ubers is nifty, and valets are very friendly. Also, metro right next to the hotel as well is a plus! When you walk in you see a small restaurant / lounge with a decent amount of service, then a small checkin counter and elevators. Not a large or luxurious lobby, but again only here forn business so I didn't mind. Rooms were typical Ritz - decently appointed, older style furniture but doesn't look worn. Could probably use a renovation in the future but gets the job done. Bathroom is luxurious and spacious, and bed supremely comfortable. View wasn't too bad either. No issues with wi-fi, and no noises so sound isolation is good (the fact I got a junior suite probably helped as well). Best part is its very affordable - so not the best Ritz I've been to but good for the price.

We had a mommies' weekend getaway. The hotel is well located immediately off the Pentagon City Metro station and adjacent from the Pentagon City Fashion Center (a multilevel shopping mall). It's an easy Metro ride into Washington DC. To avoid the hefty valet parking option, we parked in the mall parking structure instead. It was $20/24hrs. That's cheaper than the $59/night valet parking at the hotel. We had room 1819, the club level. We had 2 double beds, which was clean, comfortable and spacious. It was perfect for 2 moms who were enjoying our time away from our kiddos. The club lounge was great! All the staff were very nice. We especially liked Sandra. She was so sweet. She even gave us a brief cooking tutorial on top of her excellent service. The breakfast and evening hors d'oeuvres were excellent. The midday snacks were okay. The seemingly boring potato chips were excellent. I'm not sure how they make them, but they were so light-tasting, so crispy with being greasy. The chips paired perfectly with the baba ganoush. We also enjoyed meeting other guests in there. I love that they keep the water bottles well-stocked. As someone who drinks 1-2 gallons of water/day, I really appreciate it when club lounges aren't skimpy with the water bottles. During our entire stay, our toilet didn't flush very well. It took at least 2 flushes for a little toilet paper to go down the drain. We notified the front desk on the second day and communicated a few times with a manager (via email) about the situation. They tried several times, but were never able to fix the problem. The problem may have more to do with the water pressure than the toilet, though, because the shower lacked pressure as well. I felt the hotel handled it well in trying to remedy the situation. We made an afternoon tea reservation for Sunday. Christopher, the restaurant manger, was kind enough to give us a 2:30PM reservation even though they normally don't make tea reservations early than 3:00PM on Sundays (due to Sunday brunch). However, when we arrived at the restaurant, they took 10+ minutes to seat us, and another 15+ minutes to take our orders... but only after we reminded them several times that we had a flight to catch. I ordered the gluten-free option ahead of time, so I was a little surprised when some of the gluten-free items were directly from the club lounge from the night before. It made me wonder why I was paying $45 for food that I was getting for free in the lounge. I mentioned this to Christopher. He apologized and offered to pay for me, but since I was using hotel credit I had from my room rate, it was not necessary. Instead, he offered to pay for a future meal, which was nice, but I'm not sure when we would be back again since we live so far. Nevertheless, I appreciated the offer. Christopher was great, but I was disappointed with the rest of the restaurant staff. They seemed mostly confused or indifferent about providing good service. It was odd. We would tell them that we were in a hurry, but they still didn't seem to demonstrate any sort of urgency. Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much. Staying on the club level is worth the extra cost. I would not recommend the restaurant, though. Everyone is very nice and professional. The club staff is very personable.

    • 2-night stay - Newly Weds

Arrived Friday afternoon, valet parking, checked in, was served a glass of champagne while checking in, smooth and quick process. I reserved the new Mr. and Mrs. Williams a room on the Club Level. Checked into the room, king bed covered in rose petals in the form of a heart and a bottle of champagne on ice! Room was very clean, comfortable, furnished to accommodate the bestman, flower-girl and 2 friends, with a nice view of the city and airport. Finished the bottle of champagne, went to the Club Lounge for a snack and more champagne before dinner. A very nice lady, engineer came to adjust the room temperature, the TV and ordered a vase to hold the bride's flowers! Again, the Club was very comfortable and well stocked to please most appetites, with serving attendents ( not available at 4 star hotels). Had dinner in the hotel's restaurant (reservation set up by concierge attendent!) while checking in. Placed our meal orders, chatted about the ceremony and the dinner was served, each person's meal was cooked to please. The food was delicious and we were so full, did not or could not order dessert! Back to the room for an after dinner drink. About 10:00 PM, we left the bride and groom to a restful night's sleep. The hotel's amenities were so great, the newly weds didn't want to go on any tours on Saturday! They did slip out to an Irish restaurant with another friend/couple of the bride Saturday evening. Hotel staff was very helpful, from valet parking-in to valet parking-out Sunday. All in all, thanks to the Ritz for pleasing the the newly weds on their stay.

Great property. Close proximity to major mall. Also, Pentagon is very close for Gov't contractors and vendors. Many fine restaurants in the general area, or a 10 minute drive to D.C. I've stayed here many times over the years, and this property rarely disappoints. The Club Lounge is very comfy, although it's food offerings tend to be so-so. Breakfast is not what it should be, without being specific. Evening offerings are better selections. There is a tiny bit of congestion at the valet area, although the attendants are fairly swift. Check in is very prompt. If you have to be in Arlington, this is the place. Safe travels !

Stayed two nights at the Ritz at the end of February. We were there on a trip for tours of the Pentagon and Capitol. Metro station is right below the hotel so you don't even have to go outside to get on. The hotel also has a entrance/exit through the mall, if you need to do any shopping. Going to admit, we don't usually stay at hotels this fancy so it was definitely a treat. From the moment the valet met us at the car, everyone was very friendly and helpful. They do have a restaurant and bar but we didn't have time to utilize either. The Nespresso machine in the rooms is very nice upgrade from the regular coffee makers in other hotels. Room and bed were comfortable. Only complaint would be the only drawers to put clothes in were three shallow ones in the oversized night stand. We travel quite a bit as a Navy family and I have noticed that more and more hotels are not putting bureaus in their rooms. I assume it is to give more space in the room but it is frustrating not to have anywhere to unpack clothing that you don't have hanging.
