Its been fabulous being on paradise island. the reef studio apartment is where we stayed. It was great. Stunning views large room and super large bathroom. We loved that shower was separate from the bath tub and toilet had a separate door too. Small things but was wonderful. Lovely balcony with ocean views and the views of the pool. Security staff and bell hops are friendly. But conceirge services not at all friendly. Seems like they doing us a favor of being there. All that but We loved it here. Bahamas is beautiful The Down sides - 1. 4 complimentary bottles of water are supposed to be provided but they never are. You got to call each day. What kind of service is that??? After complaining the first day still nothing was done. So we had to call each day then it took anything from 15min to 2hours to be delivered I call this poor service for such a hotel and price we pay for it 2. When the room is serviced; toiletries are never replenished. Bizarre and unacceptable. Not sure what happening to everything. This is in low season I shudder to know what happens in peak season when everyone is busy 3. Rip off beyond anything. 50c stamp costs 75c PLUS tax. Wow 4. Room service is another rip off. Excessively more than the restaurants and cafes and compulsory 19%gratuity and 4dollar delivery charge. No pick up option Again cannot understand why. I doubt I will be back here. Bahamas is a beautiful place but we ripping off tourists.

We stayed as a family of 8 in 3 rooms at The Reef for my mother in laws 60th birthday. The rooms were substantial, but whilst this is advertised as a hotel, it is very much an apartment complex. The prices are incredibly inflated. We paid $20 for some nappies at the shop downstairs & $9 for a bottle of water. With a toddler we didnt have much choice as these were essentials. They also charged us $5 to bring champagne glasses up to the room! If they want people to act like its an apartment (I.e. not bother reception, they need to make sure the rooms are fully equipped!). The pools were nice, shallow areas for the kids etc. Aquarium areas were also lovely. The resort eateries overall were very expensive & healthy options were limited; a lot of fast food. I expected a bit more from the Atlantis brand.

We are a family of 4 with our 2 kids 1.5 and 3.5 years old. Let me start off by saying they had a blast! But as adults we would not come back. We booked Sandra's taxi service bc it provides free car seats and does a stop at the local grocery store for$10on the way to the hotel. That is a lifesaver bc ultra pasteurized milk is no where to be found on the resort. We got some essentials to tide us over (milk, water, strawberry, grapes). We packed a bunch of items from home to as we were scared from all the $$$ reviews on TripAdvisor. We packed applesauce pouches, pancake mix and syrup and cereal for quick easy breakfasts. This helped contain costs and also helped with 2 small kids not having to worry about leaving the room to hunt for food. We stayed at the Reef in a one bedroom ocean room and it was worth every penny! Breathtaking views and has 2 full bathrooms, which is a lifesaver when the kids are napping! Full size fridge, microwave, stove, sink and even dish washer. This was amazing as I'd make breakfast in the morning but would leave all the dishes for housekeeping as they would load and start the dishwasher so we came back to a clean sink-no dishes on vacation! The only thing is they don't do turn down service as a lot of the other Caribbean resorts do, so once they come they're done for the day. Overall room is very spacious and has everything a small family needs. My only complaint is the pull out couch is pretty uncomfortable so depending on the number in your party be mindful of that. Next is the resort itself. It is beautiful. Luscious landscaping, picturesque gardens and walkways, every angle is Instagram worthy! Tons of marine life in every pond/river!! The beach is breathtaking! A note on the beaches along the property- we have small kids so we really wanted soft sand and calm water. This was definitely the beach area between the reef and the cove. The beach on the other side of the cove towards the royal had rough waters and sand. We came in low season so there were no lines at any of the slides and we had free reign on pool chairs and beach chairs which was nice. Waterpark is fun, but obviously mostly for older kids than ours, but there are plenty of zero entry pools the kids can splash around in and waterfalls to swim towards. Our favorite pool was the one between cove and royal (closest to cove) it had shallow areas and lots of waterfalls to walk through as well as live music and lunch options. On to the food- this is the reason we wont come back. The food is not that overpriced. After all the reviews I was expecting spending a small fortune, but there are plenty of decent priced options. In fact we added up all of our food costs for the 6 days and it totalled just a tad bit more than an all inclusive in turks and caicos (beaches resort which to date is still one of my favorites in food, service, and kids activities!!!!) However the food was lackluster. Nothing special about it. Lunch was good at all the outdoor places near the pools, but dinner was underwhelming. We did Poseidon's table dinner buffet ( dont waste your money. The only thing good was the Ben and Jerry's icecream) Carmine's (HUGE portions, you will definitely have left overs, I liked the bread but not the main meal) Village shack burger (this was a good burger but after having burgers for lunch I was over it) Johnny's gone bananas( stale nachos and underwhelming jerk chicken) . The only redeeming restaurant was Mosaic in the Cove. We went there almost every day for the breakfast buffet! Great ambiance, staff and food. We were sad that they were not open for dinner as we know it would have been worth the pricetag for an actual satisfying meal. Lastly the service- why we definitely will not be coming back. After all the reviews, I was ok with the price tags for food, but when you pay for a service (especially on vacation) you expect a certain level of customer service. I am not a service snob and have no problem doing things myself but when you see me with 2 small kids and dont even offer to help set up the umbrella when there are 5 different employees standing together laughing and talking amongst themselves with no desire to help the guest or even do their job....that got on my nerves. If it was one incident I'd brush it off. But everything we did and everywhere we went on the resort it was the same. Employees grouping together hanging out not helping or even offering to help the customer. I have a feeling this us due to 0 motivation as the gratuity is included so why would they actually do there job? This was pretty ridiculous throughout the resort. Thousands of employees just standing around but only 2 to 3 actually doing their job. Finally after spending$80on lunch for myself my husband and my 3 year old, we needed an extra paper bowl for my son's fries and when we asked, they said no. I spent$80on a lunch from that venue and I cant get another bowl to put ketchup for my son to dip his fries?! That was pretty ridiculous. All in all it was a wonderful trip as we don't let small stuff bother us. A true island paradise....However, we love to vacation at beach resorts- Cayman, Jamaica, Turks and caicos, cancun, Punta cana etc, so we know what's out there, and unfortunately Atlantis will not be on our list to visit again.

First off if you have no kids go book at The Cove. You will likely want to use their pool (best adult pool at Atlantis) for sure and we were NOT allowed to use it even though we were staying next door at the Reef. I can see blocking cruise ship tourists from using it but not folks who stay next door and literally have to walk through it to get anywhere! Secondly please know ALL POOLS CLOSE EARLY AT ATLANTIS. So if you have kids and thinking you want to swim at night or even past 6:30 think again. And mostly all beach bar and food shacks close at 5:30. WHY? And no such thing as service on the beach or most pools like at many Caribbean resorts. Nope. Get it yourself. THE FOOD TRAP: Most restaurants are not open for lunch on property so you have very few lunch dining options. But the real big problem is that there ARE NO MID PRICED SIT DOWN RESTAURANTS. You either eat at Starbucks for breakfast or spend $250 for a family of four, nothing in between. I feel this is a conscious decision they have made to screw you. Sure there is a pizza joint and deli but they are way out of your way. Food and drink prices generally are just outrageous. $20 for a mixed drink is the norm... Folks this place is okay but lacks a soul entirely and is 1000% focused on $ not service etc, like a mid level Vegas resort. Just know that and you will not be let down but we sorta were.
