    • Staff are wonderful

      Reviewed 11 November 2019

Rooms are clean, facilities are excellent, and love that they provide activities every day (I participated in their awesome Dancing lesson). But the main reason for the 5-star rating is because of the great staff. Specifically Litia (I am not too sure if I got the spelling of her name correct). She was great and I love that each time we come back to the hotel, after traveling around the island, she continuously ask us how was our trip, if we are okay and if we reached a certain destination. Although all the staff is fantastic, she was the one who was easy to approach whenever we want to find out a certain activity within the Island. Customer service for me is very vital when I give a review, regardless if the room is average. I had a bad experience with the staff in Te Vara Nui Village, it would have ruined our entire stay in the country, but this was compensated with your wonderful staff. There are good people after all. Thanks, Rarotonga Beach Resort and I will surely recommend this in my social media account.

    • Lazy, unhelpful staff in a filthy, unkept resort

      Reviewed 06 November 2019

This place really should be on the TV show Hotel Impossible as it has to be seen to be believed. The resort requires a hell of a lot of maintenance which did not bother us as we are happy with Island life and were not expecting a five star resort. It is 2 star at best. We were however expecting a degree of cleaniliness and to be made to feel welcome. While there are some lovely staff around including housekeeping, Captain Andy's and the kids club, I have never come across such rude and downright unhelpful staff as the front desk of this place. The older lady on the afternoon of the 4/11 and then the person again tonight 5/11 are simply standouts in the "could not give a flying f*ck club if I tried" and i would like to contribute this review to both of them after trying to get a map and then a blanket! Oh the duty manager was a treat. Just stared there blankly at me while I complained. However this is just the start. The resort is filthy. There is dog or cat poo in the kids playground, along with bottle tops and other rubbish. Bird poo all over indoor chairs and lounges, glasses, plates and cultery left lying around for days (my husband and I joke about how long it will be there and how many staff will walk by and look at it). Do yourself a favour and scroll by and find a different hotel

    • Highly recommened

We couldn't decide between booking The Rarotongan vs the Edgewater as the reviews are similarly mixed. For our family holiday we ended up going with The Rarotongan and were very very happy with that choice. The reason being they have the bungalows and great access to the lagoon, along with a pool, equipment and kids club. I highly recommend for couples or families. Food in the restaurant is fairly average and overpriced and they were understaffed at dinner time so go early otherwise you eat at 8pm, but this is typical of what you find in general on the Island. You don't go to Rarotonga for outstanding customer service despite what their Tourism industry tries to promote. Just adjust your expectations and RELAX and you'll have a great time.
