Some of the best BBQ you'll find in this part of the country are little shops like this one. Looking at it from the outside, you'd think it's a run-down former gas station and would never guess at the quality of what you'll find inside. Glad I gave it a try because this place exceeded my expectations in a big way. I had a jumbo sliced beef bbq sandwich with hot sauce. The sauce is based with mustard and vinegar (among several other things), and on my next trip I'll get whatever I order with either medium or mild sauce. I just don't think that type of sauce does well with hot spices involved, but that's just my opinion. The meat was good enough that it didn't really need sauce on it. That speaks well for the quality of what they're serving. I knew I'd be back after the first bite. I loved the atmosphere--simple, old school like what I used to go into as a kid. The people were friendly, and the place was clean. The reason I sought this place out after hearing the folks on one of our sports talk shows in Little Rock talking it up one morning several months back. I finally made the time to come here, and I'll do so again, probably in the near future. I'm thinking their ribs are next on the list. Give this place a try. You'll be as pleasantly surprised as I was.

Couple of jumbo bbqs to go, medium sauce(little hot/little mild), slaw added plus a bag of Lays plain chip and a cold 12oz can of Dr.Pepper. Got plenty of napkins and ate on the way. Now there are tables in the old grocery store but I was in a hurry. Buns were fresh, filled with finely chopped smoked pork meat. The meat had just enough fat pieces to give that good bbq flavor. There were no tough, burned pieces. The slaw was excellent, fresh cabbage chopped with some carrots and just the right amount of mayo for a good taste. Now the sauce was the best, just hint of vinegar and right blend of tomato taste. Believe I could have ate a sauce sandwich. The jumbos were large but this boy had no problem eating them with limited sauce on my tie. Strongly recommend. The old grocery store building is covered with cypress board and sets between Marianna, Arkansas and Helena,Arkansas on Hwy. 1.

    • Some of the best ribs ever!

While spending time in the Helena, Arkansas area recently, we were told that there were two barbecue restaurants that were not to be missed: one was Jones Bar-B-Q Diner, and the other was Cypress Corner! And were they ever right!! We've had barbecued pork (sliced, pulled, and ribs) in numerous restaurants in several states, and the Cypress Corner ribs were some of the best, and definitely worth the 15-mile drive from Helena. The sides of potato salad and slaw were excellent, and the ribs were outstanding, and we would definitely return time and time again! An interesting note is that there is NO signage outside the restaurant. It looks like a lone building at a crossroads, and we were not sure whether we were at the right place. However, within a few minutes, the parking lot was completely full. We spoke to many other diners, who all attested to the fact that Cypress Corner has some of the best ribs and barbecue in all of Arkansas!

They have great bbq in a rustic, comfortable setting. It is like an old general store. I hear the burgers are great too.
