I really dont like writing poor views but after reaching out to the hotel via email and hearing no response it just makes me realize that sometimes this is the only way to get a point across. My husband and I decided not to stay in some very nice Airbnbs around town because we saw the pictures on TripAdvisor and the reviews of this hotel and thought it would be nice. Yes the building is historic, and it was built in the early 1800s. We absolutely understand that literally every building in Scotland when you walk in is like a furnace. And not much ac..You are just a very warm people over here ( in all the best ways ) and thats awesome. Lol. However for 250 pounds night, as I splurged for suite to get us a slightly bigger bed and a bathtub, I found the hotel room and the terms luxury accommodation stretching it more than a bit. To be honest not only did our room not have a bathtub like in the picture (and when I asked about it the front desk seemed uninterested in rectifying the issue) ...No big deal I can live w/o a bathtub... But when we finally checked into our room there were some smears of some sort of substance on the wall, and our bed was literally shaped like a banana. Now I am sometimes prone to exaggeration. But when I tell you that our bed literally look like a potato chip it was sagging and had collapsed on the side so hard that my husband and I couldnt really sleep at all the two nights we were there I swear Im not exaggerating. We didnt bother to call down to the front to ask about switching our room because the excuse as to why we couldnt have a bathtub when we checked in was that they were full. So we figured we would just tough it out. The problem came when we checked out and we very quietly and politely told them that they would absolutely and should absolutely replace that mattress before another guest checked in and were met with a blank placating stare like we were being those rude Americans.. not cool. No offer to amend the bill, buy a drink .. I even showed pictures! Over $300 a night for a hotel bed that my husband had to basically strap himself into every night to keep from falling on the floor is ridiculous. The rooms were nicely appointed but not in great shape. And if you overlook something like a curly cue bed for that much and less a night there are beautiful Airbnbs in Oban that I wish we had stayed in.

    • Nice little hotel, conveniently located along main street near ferry

It's not actually a luxury hotel, but this is Oban, not Edinburgh or London. So by those standards, the Perle Oban is a luxury hotel - stylish furnishings, nespresso machine, comfy bathroom, full breakfast service, dinner and bar. Great location too - just next to the West Coast tours office and the ferry terminal, with the main street with shops and restaurants there. Staff were friendly, and suggested alternatives when our trip to Iona got rained out. I got the junior suite, which isn't actually a suite, just that it had space for two chairs and a table so that you could watch the sunset. The odd bits - no fridge in room, which is actually fine since the hotel offered use of their fridge, and an exercise mat in the room, which is not a complaint, more of surprise. Try to get the second floor and higher. We were on the first floor (above the ground floor) and passers-by could see into our room.

Firstly let me state that it was in fact our 1st wedding anniversary. And when the staff found out about this they immeidatley wanted to make the trip more special and offered us a complementary bottle of prosecco. Already off to a great start. In terms of location it is perfectly placed. The building itself seems to have been refurbished recently, is both modern and clean. Room was a decent size as was the showeroom. Staff were friendly and happy to assist when needed and the restraunt was buzzing. Only issue, and this is not necisserily the hotels fault as i imagine all the other hotels suffer this, is the parking. However the cheapest car park is directly behind the Hotel so if you can get a space you are sorted. In all great place to stay!

We visited this hotel hoping for a luxury hotel. The check-in people seemed totally uninterested qnd gave me bad information how to work the parking meters in front of the hotel. I cant imagine anyone considering this a luxury Hotel. The room was like an oven and it was the smallest bathroom Ive ever seen. There was no AC and the windows only open a few inches. It was a terrible experience

We were in Oban for our 25th anniversary in July. Spent 2 nights - we had booked a superior ocean view room, but they told us that they had a vacancy so upgraded us to a fabulous ocean view junior suite (for our anniversary!) - and had a lovely box of Oban chocolates and a card waiting for us. Just really such a sweet, unexpected surprise. Room was spotless, coffee machine in the room, bathroom spacious and clean. Bathrobes provided! Bar and coffee bar with water view downstairs - got a scone and clotted cream with some coffee while we waiting for check-in. Hotel is in a very central location - close to the ferry terminal (2 min walk), next to the bus stop, just a few minutes to all of Oban's shops and restaurants. Great experience. Wish we had had longer to stay. Highly recommend this hotel.
