      We stayed at the Pearl for 4 nights, the whole time we were here we were torn between the fact that we had THE most amazing view of a beach that we have ever experienced in a hotel (we stayed in a 2 bed ocean front view condo) and the fact that the place was just so run down and dirty. Our condo offered a good amount of space for 3 people, but it was just so neglected- the cooker, microwave and cupboards were grimey. Whats more the condos were not consistently decorated with one another - we walked past others which were much nicer decorated and kitted out than ours. We assume that these condos are privately owned, but any other hotel would expect the condos to be consistent so that each room/condo is decorated the same. The maid did not enter the room until around 16:00-17:00 every day and did nothing to clean the room, all they did was change the towels and empty the bins. They did not top up toiletries or tea and coffee supplies either. The pool area is run down, there are tiles missing from the pool, lots of limescale on the stone and sand in the pool and jacuzzi. The pools are heated which is nice, but there is no flood lighting, the only attempt to light the area is with some string bulb lights, not all of which work. There is an outside bar area but as we were visiting in September, it was closed our whole stay. The attitude on the front desk is appalling, very rude staff who will do nothing to help you. Customer service does not exist in this place. You have to use a card given to you at check-in to claim your towel for the pool or beach every day (and they will only give you one towel per person), and one particular night there were no towels. Rather than offer to bring the towels out to us by the pool area, we had to wait around in reception while someone went to fetch one. Staff just cant be bothered, every time I went through reception, there were people chatting and joking around rather than working, or theyd be sitting down on the couch at reception with a coffee on their cell phone- not a good look. I have to say that the restaurant staff are exceptional though - the food is delicious and good value. Amber, our server, was the most friendliest and most helpful person we encountered and the rest of the staff should really follow her example. The barmen are also great and make delicious cocktails. There is a well-stocked shop with lovely souvenirs and general supplies and the lady who runs it is very friendly and accommodating. Upon check-out, the hotel had the cheek to try and charge us $25 per night room cleaning charge, NEVER have I EVER experienced this in any other hotel before. We argued that it was not in the contract and we were not paying it. The woman on reception was so rude and insisted that it was not the hotels issue and it was for us to take up with the tour operator. She said that it was a standard charge within the contract, the only thing highlighted to us when we checked in was a resort fee. when we requested that a manager come out, she said that they were all in a meeting. We said that she needed to call the tour operator then and she said that were unable to make long distance or international calls. We said that we had a 6 hour drive to Houston and would not be waiting around all day. After she eventually got the reservations manager (also rude) who then eventually pulled a manager out of the meeting, we finally got it resolved but only because we had to call the tour operator on our own cell phone who incidentally said that they had never heard anything so absurd. Before we even put the phone down, they waived the charge, there was no apology from the hotel. After an hour of messing about and on our departure, the front desk did not even say goodbye and they ignored us. Have never felt so unwelcome in a hotel and they charge A LOT for what they offer. The shame is that this hotel has so much potential, its in a prime location but the lack of service, dirty and dated rooms make it a really disappointing experience.

      For the exception of the evening front desk staff members everyone were very friendly and happy to help. The only thing that is weird is that they do not tell you at check-in the amenities and times to check out, that same information is not given to you in your room with a list of hotel information. Apparently they do not offer that type of material in any of the rooms, yet that is standard in most hotels. We are planning on having over 350 guest use their facility soon so I truly hope that they step up their customer service when ppl. come in after traveling for so many hours and miles to be there.

      DO NOT BOOK A WEDDING BEACHFRONT HERE! My daughter was recently married on September 7, 2019. We had met in person with Marcie Kazen who gave us a tour and let us know that she personally guaranteed that there would be no umbrellas set up from Sunnies the day of the wedding in front of where the wedding would be set up. She said that even though we weren't doing the reception there she'd take care of it because all of us and our guests were staying there. We had guests from all over the country fly in for this wedding. We even have an email to prove in writing that she would do this. WELL come day of wedding all these umbrellas were set up in front of the wedding area. We called her several times and she said she was working on it. As the time of the wedding neared I spoke with her and all she would say is, "well she's (my daughter) not my bride. If she would've been my bride this wouldn't have happened." I thought she was taking care of my daughter since she had been the person we had been speaking with and emailing.I called Sunnies and Tammy the owner said that she was NEVER advised. I then called The Pearl on the following Monday and spoke with Daniel Pereida who is agreed with me that this was 100% unacceptable. He said he would call me back that afternoon. Well it's already Sunday and he hasn't even called me back. I left him a message on his voicemail. Their website advertises these beautiful weddings but it's all a lie. They're unprofessional, unethical, and I am beyond upset that my daughter's beach wedding was RUINED because Marci Kazen didn't do her job. She was rude, unprofessional, and completely horrible at the way she treated and handled the whole situation. I really hope that someone in the ownership and or administration sees this review and contacts me. I'm am very VERY upset.

      I booked this hotel without looking at reviews. Later on EVERY Review was terrible and very downgrading on the hotel. I was super upset because this was my honeymoon. But the reviews do not do the hotel justice. Our room was excellent. It was clean when we got there and the room temp was perfect. Everyone at the hotel was super sweet. We did not have a bad experience at all and enjoyed our stay 100%.

      This used to be our go to. Now not sure well be back. Long black hairs on the bathroom floor. Mold on the shower curtain. Gross. We will be looking for a cleaner hotel next time. Just too beat up in the elevators and turning trashy. For this price and the resort fee we expect more.
