    • Shocking Disappointment!

      Reviewed 09 September 2019

My husband and I had a wedding to attend just over the Canadian boder and decided to stay in nearby Buffalo because this hotel looked great and our options were very limite in Ridgeway, ON. The best part of this experience is that it was only one night. Upon checking in I noticed that the common spaces looked a bit shabby but I assumed the accomodations would make up for that. I was WRONG! Our room in the back wing of the 2nd floor was depressing at best! It was awful in every way. The decor was hideous including furniture that looked like it belonged in a run down nursing home from the 80's. The bathroom was grim with a stained 80's style (dirty) jett tub/shower combo, cracked tile and an odd poorly functioning toilet. The bed was not comfortable, poorly sheeted and the matress was old and squeaky. The carpet looked and felt filthyso I chose to wear my shoes from the bed to the bathroom. How could this possibly be a triple A four diamond? It's gross!

We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Mansion on Delaware Ave and our expectations were exceeded! When we arrived, we were greeted by their Butlers who superbly took care of us throughout our stay. A huge plus right from the start. Our room was beautiful & elegant, very comfortable beds (love the pillows) and high-end quality amenities. The complementary Breakfast and afternoon cocktails were top-notch. And to make our stay even better, after our Butler made reservations at a recommended restaurant, they provided chauffereured transportation. We felt like royalty! We know this hotel is rated a AAA Diamond Award hotel, and now we know why. We can't wait to come back! Thank you - it was absolutely fabulous!

Many aspects experienced at your hotel were unacceptable and challenging. (1) When we arrived at the hotel and asked about the courtesy drinks, we were told that the drink time would be extended for us. That was appreciated. My friend and I were aware of the hotel rules and were careful to order drinks in a mindful way. To sneak a charge of $18 on my bill without mention is unprofessional and dishonest. (2) The courtesy lifts are a wonderful idea but when in the vehicle, we feared for your lives. In order to get the driver to stop his erratic, crazy driving I said I could throw up. I later asked if he would drop me at a convenience store for a couple of minutes. He responded with "if you think you will throw up, you should go straight back to the hotel". That was insult added to injury. (3) I did not print the confirmation email from your hotel because I never anticipated that the hotel would add additional amounts to my bill. I trusted that The Mansion on Delaware Avenue was highly regarded with outstanding reviews. But, I was wrong, very wrong. (4) Our final breakfast was completely compromised by the presence of unpleasant Jevon Henderson who followed me to a dining table and stood there for the entire 90 minutes. He agreed to deduct the $18 drinking charge but refused repeatedly to deduct the $50 extra room charge. (5) The owner, Geno said he had looked up the original booking and agreed that I had been overcharged. Very ugly, so very ugly!! I have been traumatized since leaving your hotel. Refunding two charges that should never have been put on to my invoice is inadequate. A series of awful experiences.

We stayed for 3 days. The staff was excellent. We had great conversations at their bar. Just like visiting old friends. Their breakfast was elegantly understated. There was something for any picky eater. Our suite had a great view and I loved there afternoon treats. I hope we will have the opportunity to visit again

Living a millionaires life along Millionaires Row! In the evenings it was like coming home to our personal mansion greeted by our butler and attendants. The home is spacious and grand and luxurious. The staff could not be more accommodating and personable. We love the vintage style and this might be our favorite place weve stayed. A special thank you to Jose for the 3:30 am coffee!
