Easy to get to from GCT on the 7, cool neighborhood near MoMA PS1. Contemporary design, easy check-in, polite staff. Rooms are spare but nice design with high-quality materials when it comes to construction, fixtures, and tile. I had a private queen bed and loved the vibe including the local artwork. However, a few quality issues: 1) the deadbolt does not work, or didn't, when I stayed in room #224. It worked when the door wasn't closed but couldn't get it to engage or align when closed. 2) the toilet paper holder seemed to be mostly missing there was a piece of metal on the wall where I think it was supposed to be. (Minor detail but should be addressed.) Cleanliness: It seemed pretty clean on the surface but the shower stall floor was full of long dark hair, so was the floor near the sink where the previous guest must have dried their hair. This to me means that the housekeeping staff did not clean the shower or the floor after that guest left. Hopinig that was an isolated incident! If the cleanliness issue is resolved I would consider staying again. Nice little bar downstairs with a wonderful bartender and good beer and wine choices. Very warm environment.

    • First time at a hostel

This was my first time at a hostel and I will have to say it definitely has my expectations pretty high for the next ones I plan to visit. I loved this hostel so much and was able to meet so many amazing people from so many different parts of the world! I loved the staff and all the cool hang out areas, especially the rooftop! It has an amazing view where you can watch the sun rise/sunset and the nightview! Its location is so nice, a little quiet Incase your alone but I did feel safe, Its also really close and convenient to the train which can take you straight to manhattan as well! The night life there on Friday's and Im assuming other nights as well seem so cool! I wasnt able to drink since Im not the legal age yet but everyone definitely looked like they were having an amazing time! Also the way the rooms are set up in my opinion are just perfect since they dont have the shower, sink, and bathroom all in one place. And they also have a door closing off the main entrance of the room to the actual bed space which makes it easy to get ready in the morning without having to make so much noise for others in the room! Definitely recommend staying here to anyone looking for an amazing stay!

I spent time in numerous hostels all summer in Europe, but this NYC hostel was by far the best of my trip. The staff, views, kitchen, beds, location, and common areas are absolutely awesome. I think my favorite aspect was the spaciousness, 'cause I became tired of cramped hostels. This one is really large and there is elbow room in every corner. I stop through NYC from time to time, so will def stay again.

This was my first time coming to NYC and my first time staying at a hostel in the states. Nothing but great reviews! Absolutely amazing experience. The staff were extremely pleasant and answered any questions I had about the city and getting around. Exceptionally friendly! The rooms were very clean and it was super convenient to have a bathroom and shower in our bunk room. My bunk mates were so friendly and nice! The bar downstairs had great drinks and a variety of beer on tap. It seemed like every person at staying here was from a different country. The bartender was so friendly and helpful. 10/10 will be staying here my next visit.
