    • A Warm Welcome in a Beautiful Historic Inn

      Reviewed 10 September 2019

We loved our stay at the Lily Inn, a historic building across the street from the Delaware River. Gene was an exceptional host, welcoming us to the home that she has lovingly restored and decorated so beautifully with art and antiques. The house is over 300 years old, but it has been thoroughly updated with AC, double-glazed windows, excellent wifi, and bathrooms with every convenience. The kitchen was stocked with snacks and hot and cold drinks, and Gene served up a superb breakfast, made to order. We also enjoyed our walk around historic Burlington, our dinner at the nearby Blue Claw and Crab Eatery (best crab cakes weve ever had), and the amazing sculpture park called Grounds for Sculpture about 25 minutes north ask Gene about the free passes she has available. Considering that the cost of our stay in such a warm, wonderful place was about the same price as a chain hotel, why would you stay anywhere else?

    • A Perfect Respite

      Reviewed 30 August 2019

There is little more I can contribute to the accolades already posted. The Burlington riverfront is steeped in history and The Lily Inn is a perfectly located jewel. We were fortunate to discover this B&B, as we were traveling to Ocean City on the Instate and this proved to be a perfect respite close to the exit. The Lily is beautifully restored, complete with antiques and thoughtful touches. Each bedroom is unique, dressed with fine linens and towels. We enjoyed the spacious third floor suite with comfy king bed and to-die-for shower. As mentioned elsewhere, it is a bit of a climb so anyone with mobility issues should be aware. But any of the rooms would be wonderful. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast prepared by Genie, the owner and gracious hostess, and under the watchful eye of Lucy, a petite and polite rescue pooch. We look forward to a return visit when we can stay a bit longer and to coincide with the Annual Riverfront Festival. The Lily Inn has our highest recommendation. Thank you, Genie, for such an enjoyable stay.

I have been meaning to write this review because when you see something so great/enjoyable/lovely you should share the experience. The innkeeper, Genie, is an excellent host and appears to run the Inn and attend to her guests effortlessly. She is an excellent cook....the breakfast choices were delicious and a great conversationalist. We had several good conversations with her and also with other guests each morning. The house is beautifully decorated with antiques and is very homey. There are books available and also a tv...if you chose. The patio is so relaxing and comfortable to sit and relax while listening to birds singing. It was just what we needed. Lots of choices for dining just a short walk away. Also a number of antique stores to choose from nearby. The river is less than a block away from the Inn where there is a walking path right along the water so you can go for a nice walk. The linens were of very good quality and the bed was very comfortable. Cant say enough good things about the Lily Inn. Genie also has a rescue dog, Lucy, that is very friendly, well behaved and is an ambassador of sorts for the Inn. I fell in love with her and Im not even a dog person...much prefer cats! Just cant say enough good things...thinking of a reason to return to Burlington and the Lily Inn. 10 stars!

    • Clean rooms, gracious innkeeper!

We loved our stay at the Lily Inn, a beautifully restored colonial era building, where we rented the suite on the third floor. Very comfortable! Jean, the innkeeper, was a lovely hostess. Delicious breakfasts, and a convenient location in Burlington--a good HQ for our history and genealogy touring. Price was comparable or better than other B&B stays we've done.

    • Beautiful and welcoming, in a perfect location.

      Reviewed 25 June 2019

In the heart of Burlington historic district, this inn is walking distance to all the major historic buildings as well as to the lovely waterfront promenade and restaurants. It is an historic building, beautifully maintained with modern amenities such as large tile walk in showers. My spacious room had a four poster bed that was not just attractive, but comfortable! Cozy public spaces, and a quiet patio and garden off the dining room were very welcoming. Full breakfast was served, and included homemade zucchini bread. The owner couldnt be nicer, and made sure we hade everything we needed. A native of Burlington, she is a good source of local history and information.
