If you like to be treated with verbal and even physical treatment, this is the place to stay for you!! did not know to laugh, cry, being angry or being on candid camera at some stages during our stay Being myself for 30 years in the Hospitality industry, I never experience what we had to endure during our stay over there I was part of a groups coming from all over the world, Europe, Africa, Australia and even beyond to lay to rest a very good friend/family member of us, as understand a very emotional period in our life for all of us Unfortunately Mrs. Debby (Lady working at the Inn) did not have any compassion what so ever, my sister unable to order dinner as according to her she was not fast enough to go over the menu, being putting it mild not so nice to her staff members, unsafe environment, one friend walked outside via the front door and disappeared in a hole, arm open/blood everywhere instead of an excuse NO you get verbal abused, claiming its an emergency exit (No sign to indicate what so ever) other friend tried to speak to her in a calm way, and suddenly hell brook loose, shouting, yelling and even when we walked out physical abuse(claiming we stole a bottle) which was a gift from a friend to take home, the whole afternoon the bottle was on the table, closed and a brand the don't even sell at the inn, We went next door to analyze all what happened, when the police walked in (Mr. Mark really nice officer) taking our statements, etc talking to Mrs. Debby investigation followed and indeed we did NOT steal a bottle or anything (Mrs. Debby did try to apologies the next morning regarding the false accusation) still no reason to verbal and physical attach a Guest or who ever She refused to serve breakfast the next morning, a little sign on the door stating basically No Breakfast today !! affecting not only us but other Guest as well(Felt really sorry for the elderly couple, leaving the place without breakfast) She closed the evening before the emergency exit, creating a death trap for all Guest staying at the Inn, I did asked regarding a refund for the not served breakfast on very, very rude she responded NO REFUND, I refuse to lower myself to her standards and left without even arguing The worst and most disgusting , that she even verbally attacked our good friend Tammy who just two days before laid her husband and soul mate to rest, too shocking to repeat on this platform and I truly hope nobody will ever receive this treatment when you just lost you be loving partner and being verbally attacked by a complete stranger Off course there where also good moments As we are spread out over the whole world, we did had a location to grieve, cry and laugh together and start our healing process The area is stunning, no doubt (but stay next door, my recommendation) Stevie working at the Inn, she was/is brilliant, sweet, compassion, humor, hardworking (Mrs. Debby can learn from this young lady) Stevie if you ever read this and you want to work in Africa give me a shout, you are super

Attending a show at the Bath & West show ground we attempted to eat in the bar, after waiting for an hour we just had to give up. Staff friendly and helpful, the beer was good but they just need need more or faster staff in the kitchen. At least we got a refund without any hassle!

    • Horrible waitress Debbie

We stayed in The Highwayman Inn for 4 nights, with a group of 12 + guests to attend a funeral of one of our best friends. The first day all was good, and the service of the waitresses Stevi and Ellie was great. From day 2 there was another elderly waitress Debbie. She was the most rude and horrible lady we ever met in a bar/restaurant/hotel. She was rude to her collegues and to guests. The last evening she brought her level of rudeness even higher, by physically attacking me and accusing me of stealing a bottle of sherry (completely incorrect, it was a gift one of our friends got from her niece), and refusing to serve breakfast to our group (and the other guests in the hotel) Next morning the fire door from the rooms to the restaurant was locked, (imagine something happened on that moment). Also the main entrance was closed, and they put up a sign that breakfast was cancelled. When a few hours later the door was open, one of us asked if there was any refund for the breakfast we paid for, but did not receive, the answer was short... NO... All of us advise the owner/manager to consider what this lady is doing to his/her business. Our advice... get her out of there.

Pretty average establishment, small rooms, very basic, needs refurbishment, not customer friendly. Location being close to the show Ground is the only positive about this place. Also parking is plentiful which is the only other plus.
