    • Green roof pub

      Reviewed 01 September 2019

Located on Tudor st. Hamilton. Bistro food is good. Beer prices a bit $$ for a suburban pub. Friday Saturday nights its like a night club, popular with footy teams. Wouldn't like to stay in rooms up stairs on a weekend as it would be very noisy from downstairs.

    • Great Value, Cosy Pub Stay

We stayed at The Greenroof on a Sunday night so the pub was relatively quiet. The staff were very professional and welcoming, and the check in was easy. I hadn't been to the hotel since it was recently refurbished, so I didn't know what to expect. Talk about a pleasant surprise! The downstairs public areas are all well presented, and the outdoor areas are clean, tidy and well heated for winter days. The rooms are upstairs. There are two bathrooms upstairs, both of which are shared, but lockable. They are new, large and immaculately clean. Both shower enclosures house two showers in each. A lovely touch for couples. We stayed in Room 1 which is situated at the end of the hall and paid $62 for the night. Great value. Very happy with the room. The bed is a double size, and comfortable. There's a well-stocked bar fridge, basket of snacks (bar items and snacks are for purchase) and there's some tea making items. My one little gripe about this room, and it would not apply to the other rooms concerns the hum of the air-conditioning duct outside our window. It's continuous, but I soon got over it enough to sleep well. The rooms are advertised as being soundproofed; we heard very few sounds coming from downstairs. I guess that's the difference between Sunday night and Saturday night. Very happy stay and we plan on returning again.

I stayed at the Greenroof hotel for the weekend when I was down. From the moment I stepped in the door I felt so welcome and accommated to. The staff were so so friendly and answered any question I had. The rooms were very clean and the rooms were very new and modern. Although initially I was hesitant on the shared bathrooms they were extremely clean and spacious and it didnt bother me one bit! The food variety the kitchen offered was amazing and the quality was next level. It was so handy that I was upstairs so I could have a few drinks and the commute to bed wasnt very far!! Saturday night was even better. I got to have a dance had a laugh and caught up with old friends!! Will most definitely be coming again and strongly will be recommending to anyone asking where to stay in Newcastle!

This is a cool pub but be warned of wanting to stay on a Saturday night. The entire place erupts into a nightclub - which is great if you want to party on until the early hours but not so much if you want to sleep. Checking in was slow - the staff were friendly but our reservation was wrong. Anyway beers good and a first rate chicken parmie which is definitely worth a try.

My friends and I stayed at The Greenroof last weekend for 1 night (Friday) to watch the Newcastle Jets in the Hyundai A-League. The Hotel looks oldish from the exterior, but from the inside the place is practically brand new. The rooms are small but are very swanky looking and are attractive to the eyes. Showers were massive! Very cheap place to stay and very clean - highly recommend if you are staying in Newcastle at a budget.
