    • Nice ambiance shame about the food

      Reviewed 15 August 2019

We ate here last weekend and its very much a mixed review. The place is lovely, traditional pub feeling with all the trappings of being recently done up and serving good pub food.. or so you would think We came looking for some light snack and a meal for our daughter. We ordered the Halloumi fingers to share between 2 of us. Thinking who could get Halloumi wrong, well they deep fried it! What a shame! And as for our daughter we ordered a pizza and the 1 extra dessert. The pizza was blurgh and the 1 dessert was so huge even my daughter thought it must be to share. It boggled my mind to think this was appropriate for a child. The staff were sort of helpful. We were in a rush but all they said was that there were people here before us and so they couldnt help. In the end the food came out super quickly but I have in mind this was down to the speed of the chef rather than anything the front of house staff did to help. They had no pens to go with the colouring pad and overall it was a shame. What would make this review helpful... -take colouring pens and paper if you have a child and -The main course of lamb looked edible on another table. So if youre looking for a heavy meal this could cater better - there is free parking and dog bowls if you have a pet I might consider going again but I would also have a look to see if there was an alternative if I was in the neighbourhood. If not this would be ok.

    • What a surprise :)

We were welcomed by a warm smile and greeting as soon as we walked in. The staff were really friendly and attentive. The room was very stylish, clean and bright with air-conditioning. The roof window and blinds can be opened remotely. There is a parking in front of each accommodation. The location is great with 3-4mins walk to the cathedral and high street. We will stay there again if we visit Bury St. Edmunds.

    • Outstanding Sevice

A return visit to the Fox was again a delight. The exceptional staff remember your preferences and accommodate your every need. The service was swift and the order was taken by Sam D and delivered within 20 minutes which was very impressive due the restaurant being packed. We were served by Paul who was polite and professional and ensured that all our needs were met. The professional who created our meal again was Daisy who also checked our steaks were cooked to our expectations. This great restaurant / bar / accommodation is one of the best Greene King establishments in the town which I would highly recommend. The staff I have mentioned on this occasion were the colleagues we saw, but there is multiple staff that create this outstanding experience every time I visit.

    • A busy Sat night

      Reviewed 27 July 2019

Table booked for 5 at a late time on a Sat evening, the staff got us booked in with ease. Arrived at the time we booked and shown to our table which was situated ideally next to an open window as the night was quite clammy. The staff were friendly, allowed us time to sit down before approaching for a drinks order, then leaving time to study the menu. The menu was quite intensive with a varied choice of menu which caters for all including vegetarian also the drink menu is extensive. The food is of good quality and cooked to order, mine was a steak medium rare, and, I can not complain about the standard as it came as I ordered it. I would recommend booking your table prior to just turning up on the evening as this is a well known public house in Bury St Edmunds

We traveled to Bury Saint Edmunds for my mother's funeral and stayed at the The Fox Inn. It was perfect, very nice rooms, cozy and clean and excellent breakfast along with the other food they offered. All the staff were very nice. We highly recommend this bed and breakfast...
