    • Gorgeous hotel for a girls weekend!

A friend and I visited The Fontaine with little expectations of the hotel. We were totally blown away by the gorgeous lobby and rooms and the friendly staff. We loved being close to The Plaza for shopping and great restaurant options. We also had a chance to check out the pool area which was a perfect spot to spend a hot Midwest afternoon. Definitely recommend this hotel for your next girls weekend!

The hotel was pretty and clean. The bed was comfy and I took advantage of the pool and bar. Since it was rather hot and humid while we were there, the pool was very refreshing. They have poolside service although it's not consistent, but the cocktails are rather good. The room was lovely but the 'balcony' was not much bigger than a fire escape and when I opened the door the rod for the curtains hit me in the face so beware. But it was clean, quiet and inviting. Check in and out went smoothly and they were kind enough to shuttle us once to a friend's nearby hotel. They have a complimentary shuttle which we probably should have taken advantage of more. All in all I am glad we choose this place.

The Fontaine has a fun art deco style and is very comfortable. The staff was great and loved the location near the plaza. Very nice bar and pool on the top floor. The room was a nice size with a very nice bathroom with a large shower.

    • Beautiful hotel and pool, but not the most welcoming experience

My friends and I stayed at this hotel over the weekend so that we could celebrate my bachelorette party. We wanted to go somewhere that we could just have a low key and enjoyable weekend. We arrived to check in at 3 and planned to immediately go to the pool. We checked in and Jason helped us and was wonderful and helpful, we thought the rest of the service would be just as amazing. As we got to our room my friend dropped a glass bottle she had put in her bag, no big deal, it was our mistake. We cleaned up the large pieces. We cleaned up the water with a couple towels and went to ask for more. The woman working the front desk responded oh wow. You JUST got here. Okay no big deal at first, we made a silly mistake and someone came to vacuum up the rest of the glass. My friend and I then went to get ice for our room. I asked the same woman where the ice machine was and she somewhat bluntly told us the directions. We figured she was just busy. We all work with the public and know people have off days. We got our ice and came back down to our room which was on the first floor in a hallway behind the front desk. As we passed the front desk the same employee shouted maam! Maam! We felt like 2 children getting in trouble, we stopped obviously confused. The woman approached my friend and said girl let me blend your makeup and attempted to put her hands on my friends face. It was beyond rude, condescending and honestly very creepy. My friend was embarrassed and I was in total shock. I would never comment on someones appearance in my work place so I was unsure of what to even say. My friend just told her she was about to take her makeup off to go to the pool. It made the rest of the experience very awkward because we felt unwelcome as if we didnt belong there. We are in our early and mid 20s and wondered if we were being discriminated against because of our age and the staff assuming we were going to make a big mess or be party hard in our room or something along those lines. We enjoyed the pool which is absolutely beautiful!! We actually decided to skip dinner at the hotel which we had originally planned on because we were unsure of what the service would be like. We decided to go out to the Plaza and we were extremely excited to see if the Tesla was available to drive us. What a fun way to shuttle hotel guests around! When we asked for the shuttle ride the same woman from the front desk ran out to the valet and said they were not able to do anymore rides. It seemed to be unrelated to the other incidents and I dont think she was trying to stop us from riding in it but we had to stand around for a while as the driver and front desk attendant debated over if we could have a ride less than a mile away. The driver took us and said sorry for the wait. I have no idea what that was about. He was very kind, we ended up walking back to the hotel to avoid calling the front desk because we werent sure what would happen. Id highly recommend going to the pool but I dont know if Id go back after the experience. The rooms are gorgeous, it is very clean and definitely one of the most beautiful hotels Ive ever seen but the service is definitely lacking. We dont want to be pampered to by any means but we spent a lot of money and definitely would have spent more if we had felt welcome in the hotel.

We stayed at The Fontaine for 2 nights over a recent weekend. Generally, it was a good stay. The Parker restaurant was fine for breakfast as well as a later evening dessert. Staff were uniformly pleasant. Our one problem was a complete failure of housekeeping to service our room after the first evening. Since we do subscribe to the green concept of not changing bedding we did not complain. But the failure to pay our room a visit was glaring. Otherwise... The hotel is a modern, nicely designed facility with excellent soundproofing and elevators. Excellent food options with JJ's and Jax next door.
