    • Not exactly a 195 per night hotel

we booked this hotel for a night to play golf in North Berwick, the location is spot on, right next to North Berwick Links Course and also in the town, we arrived at about 2.30pm only to find the place locked up,, notice on door saying check in at 3pm - 10pm, not a great problem but inconvenient, check in was fine, staff no problem and courteous, but as a previous poster has said it is one huge DIY gone wrong affair,, it is simply out of context for the building and the Room rate 195 per night :-( we were shown to our room (2) which is built into the roof space, and being 6 feet tall it is a challenge to say the least, the rooms are tackily decorated with cheap channel lining all over the place. you also need to crouch down to get into the bath room and shower, they do supply shower gel etc, there is also a coffee maker in the room, we couldn't find many electric sockets to charge our phones etc, there is a small bar type reception, oh I don't know what it is but the prices are not a kings ransom so we had a couple of beers before going out for the night. breakfast in the morning was a bit all over the place,, no full English,, just a choice of bits and pieces of a full English,, I had bacon and eggs with a slice of toast,, it was fine no problems and tea was nice. overall I do not think the rate they charge is in line with the standard of accommodation they provide, but North Berwick is a busy busy place so its a captive audience. would I stay here again? unfortunately NO Sorry :-(

This place has been very poorly converted to accommodation from an old fire station. If you want to see how not to do DIY, this is the place for you. Arrived at 3:00pm, and were shown up to room 4. A room too small for a double bed, so had been placed at 45degrees to fit it in, and a low dormer ceiling so that you had to crouch to get to the kettle. A 5 light chandelier, in the room, with only 2 lights working. Asked to be moved into another room, but was told that it was fully booked. Eventually was allowed to move to room 5, which was marginally bigger. Wires and mirrors everywhere, cheap unfitted carpet, BBC1 completely pixelated. Breakfast served by 2 Spanish blokes who had never heard of poached eggs , put the icy on the cake of this Scottish Fawlty Towers. 95 for something that was worth less than half that. My advice, spend another 30 and stay at The Nether Abbey Hotel. Worst place that I have had the misfortune to stay in outside of Nigeria.

Stayed here on a Fri night and had a really nice stay. Decent accommodation, although fairly noisy with creaking floorboards and people walking by in the night, but the hosts were nice and would do anything to make your stay enjoyable. Breakfast was really good too.

Stayed for 2 nights, staff friendly, welcoming and helpful. Room small but nice and clean, comfy bed. Good range of coffee/tea pods in the room. Bedding smelled lovely and fresh. Nice surprise to see shampoo, shower gels etc. Great location just a few minutes walk from shops etc and a very short stroll to the beach. Parking just across the road. Good breakfast choices and flexibility. We will definitely be back. Thank you :-)
