    • Jolesch goes touristtrap

Everything is selfmade - i believe you. You opened every instant food, warmed it up and served the desaster. A pure "Tafelspitz" with spinach - are you kidding me!!!! A remoulade sauce - even if it would have been selfmade it tasted like - no words. Have you ever heard something of fresh Rettich. Service in leggings - im speechless. If you want to be in an "Austrian Paradise" go to "Alt Wien" in Hufelandstrae Prenzlauer Berg.

We were looking forward to a nice Austrian meal. Unfortunately the service was poor and the waiter did not even say sorry after failing to deliver the food that we had ordered. The food was overcooked and the salad was stale.

This was our first night in Berlin and we booked late at 21:45 as we only arrived in Berlin Airport that evening and that was the earliest time we could get there. We were happily surprised to be able to book so late. The food was great. everything was so full of flavours, fresh. Good service. Great wine menu..... Problem when our mains were cleared. We wanted to order dessert. We actually spent a lot of time choosing this restaurant and we wanted to try the austrian desserts. We were told the chef was finished. We were really disappointed. They should not take bookings so late if they cannot provide the service late. It would have been better telling us it was too late to book and we would have found another restaurant. And no one would have been disappointed.

Late lunch 2pm ordered from lunch menu. Food was indifferent and the service achingly slow. There were very few diners and the toilets were lovely. Wonderful marble floor and clean as could be.

    • Excellent Austrian fare in Berlin

I visited Jolesch twice within two weeks - once for a business dinner with a group of about 20 people, and the second time with my partner and baby daughter. I was very impressed by the menu, which includes all the staples of Austrian cuisine from Frittatensuppe to Wiener Schnitzel and Saftgulasch. The desserts are equally scrumptious, and the wine selection is something to behold. Some may say it is a somewhat expensive restaurant for Berlin standards, but I felt the prices were more than adequate - even cheap, especially the Schnitzel.
