    • Fantastic for groups

For anyone wanting to host a party or group function in the St Austell area, I can't speak more highly of the Britannia Inn. We held a party for 24 people, a 50th wedding anniversary party for my parents. Communication prior to the event was prompt, informative but also relaxed, and they were always flexible and amenable to our requests. On the day itself, they helped us with dcor, even supplying their own cylinder of helium to blow up balloons. Food and drinks were excellent, and all the waiting staff were incredibly patient with the guests who weren't always listening to what food was being brought out! Even things like being able to settle the bill a couple of days afterwards rather than on the night made for a more relaxed evening. My parents were delighted with the evening which is the most important thing, and it was also excellent value for money.

    • Sunday Carvery; quite ordinary

      Reviewed 08 September 2019

In spite of being advised that this was THE place to be for Sunday lunch, we found the whole experience very ordinary. On the day we visited they served over 160 carverys, which makes it popular but extremely disorganised. We queued for our meal for over 30 mins; had we waited until the end of the queue wed have had no meat as they ran out! The food was bland and tasteless, certainly not worth the travel or the wait. Certainly wont be going back.

    • Carvery.

Visited the Brit with high hopes, due to a massive hype over the carvery served there. However left disappointed. Although it was edible and not the worst meal in the world, I must say the meat was dry and the overall meal was just bland and flavourless. To be paying over 10 for a medium, I did expect more. The menu states a large selection of vegetables, of which we were left to choose from 4 options and a cauliflower cheese that was hardly cheesy. The potatoes were lovely and cooked to perfection, no issues there. But, as it is a carvery we did expect more variety and hoped for a little more flavour. The desserts, however, were delicious, though also rather expensive. The staff are very friendly and I have no faults with the service received.

    • Very uncomfortable and ripped off

Stayed here in a room that was so hot, and the noise from the air vents outside the window was horrendous, Admittedly the breakfast was good When arriving you try to follow the signs for reception and these lead right into the busy main bar, so youre stood at a bar trying to get sorted with your suitcases, we were there 15 minutes, no mention of this in the booking or the fact that theres steep stairs to get up with your cases Ordered drinks at the bar and card details were DEMANDED we stated we would no be running a tab so no need, then it was announced that its company policy, and minimum card transaction is 5.00? For a large company like this? The days of minimum transaction or pay a fee are long gone Glad we didnt run a tab as we have now realised we are charged twice for a round of drinks, we have had drinks twice but 3 payments on our card, seems like theres a problem here, Stay again? Never!! Recommend? Only to people we dislike

    • Great value, clean and comfortable

We were here for 2 nights while driving around Cornwall. The Inn was clean, spacious and comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was generous and tasty. Couldn't really ask for more.
