This was for a family gathering. The room we had was private and ideal for the size of our party. There was a good selection of food, which was a buffet style, with plentiful supply of tea and coffee. Easy going with regards to time. We were not rushed or hurried. All in all, a nice venue. Would recommend.

Quite a small hotel located 10mins drive from the train station. Nice reception area with a bar. Corridors to rooms are dated and have an old musty smell but was nicely surprised that the rooms were fairly modern and spotlessly clean. There are tea and coffee facilities, plenty of towels and a tv in the room. Heating is adjustable in the room which was good as I am always cold. Beds were comfy too with a nice big wardrobe. Rooms arent huge but big enough. The only disappointment was breakfast time. Breakfast is served between 7am and 9am, checkout is 11am. I felt breakfast needed to be served till 10am. We went for breakfast at 8.45am and all the tables were full. There was nobody to greet us at first but as there were no tables we were told to wait outside until a table became available. I have never been sent out to wait for a table at breakfast in any other hotel and then we had to wait 30 minutes to be seated. You order from the menu and service was slow, we had to wait a further 30minutes for 2 cooked breakfasts, as a result, the tables were being cleared whilst we were still eating! Food was lovely though and we only paid 2.50 each so great value. Just a shame we had to wait so long for it! This has affected my score otherwise I would have given 4 stars. Would return if staying in Huddersfield for an evening again. Just a few other points..we returned to the hotel at 11pm on the evening of our stay and there was no food/room service available so this you should be aware of. There is a co op petrol station over the road though which thankfully saved us from starvation! Room service would have been nicer though!

Wanted a quick stopover on the way up north, close to the M62 so ideal. The check in was quick and friendly Room Decor was ok, bathroom clean and fairly modern. Only one large towel and hand towel, its annoying having to ask for simple basics such as towels and tea/coffee facilities hadnt been refilled. No iorn in the room too. The bed was comfy but it was impossible to sleep in the room as it was so hot. The radiators on full and no fresh air in the room meant it was stifling when we got there. Even with the window open it was too hot, no air conditioning. Wedding function was on, which I think its primarily aimed at providing. 70 room only Wont come again
