Very comfortable, quality furnishings throughout, excellent service and quality of food. Will definitely be back. The location is an easy walk into the Main Street. The staff were all well trained and competent at their jobs. we were on a tour around Scotland, staying at 4 different hotels, all similarly priced, and this was definitely the best value and most comfortable. Thank you for such a great stay.

    • At last!

We are a fortnight into our trip back to the U.K. to visit friends and family. We have stayed in a variety of hotels, ranging from international chains, motels and small group hotels. We spent a couple of nights in a leading Scottish group hotel near Falkirk - nominally 4-star, but the inspector must have had a real crisis of conscience in allowing it to retain that status. Admittedly a grand building, with a nice spa and amenities, but with worn and stained carpets, chipped paintwork, malfunctioning plumbing and poorly trained staff. And now for something completely different. A beautiful privately owned country house hotel in Pitlochry, close to the smallest whisky distillery in Scotland. We were warmly greeted by Louise and her husband, Struan, who bought the hotel five years ago. The furnishing was immaculate - the rooms looked as if they had been decorated yesterday. The two lounges were warm and inviting, with open fires and comfortable sofas and chairs upholstered with beautiful tweed fabrics. We arrived well before check-in time, so had a light lunch in the lounge - smoked salmon sandwiches with Highland craft beers. The room we were offered had a large Italian shower, but as my wife prefers a bath, Louise quickly gave us a different room, which was really a suite with a separate dressing area. Again, everything was immaculate and well deserved the 4 star rating. Little wonder that the Good Hotel Guide awarded it Scotland's Hotel of the Year for 2019. Neither were we disappointed by dinner. Canaps in the lounge allowed us to select from the extensive range of Scottish gins - yes, even in the Highlands, gin is flavour of the month. The restaurant well justified its two rosette rating, and my carpaccio of venison, followed by rack of Perthshire lamb and cherry frangipani tart were superb. Service was slick, knowledgable and unobtrusive. The good wine list and outstanding range of whiskies made it a memorable meal. Although I am looking forward to breakfast, it is with a touch of sadness, as we have to continue our journey south - but we will be back!

Second visit to this lovely hotel and were given a free upgrade to the suite in room 14 - thank you very much, it was a brilliant way to start our holiday. As before, the staff, the food, the service, the ambience were all perfect. If you're thinking of staying in Pitlochry do consider staying here, it's well worth it.

We went on the Itison deal for 1 night with dinner and breakfast included. The hotel and grounds are immaculate. The staff are so professional and discreet. Food is amazing. Prices are very acceptable and breakfast is lovely. The decor is very tasteful and the roaring fires are just beautiful. We loved everything about Knockendarroch!

We have stayed a number of times at Knockendarroch Hotel over the last five years and feel so lucky we came across this true gem in the Highlands. From the time you arrive to when you leave the quality of the food, service and the attention to detail never drops and makes you long for the time we can return again.
