    • Quite unlike a Taj Experience, Management really does not care about guests and NO CENTRAL HEATERS!

      I have been a regular guest at this hotel and prefer it over other properties thanks to the warm butlers at the Taj Club Lounge. However my experiences (other than the lounge) have always been Sub-Par. Be it restaurant or rooms and the management never seems to care in spite of repeated complaints. During my first stay, the housekeeping staff entered my room without even knocking the door whilst I just came out of the shower, they were quick enough to apologize and I did not raise an issue except leaving a quick note to the cashier (Prateek) whilst checking out who assured me that things will be taken care of next time. It was at this time that the hotel pool and Jacuzzi was under renovation (I wasn't informed while booking). They arranged for pool services at the ITC who very conveniently did not allow me to use the changing room/steam room etc stating the agreement was only for the pool (pathetic!). During my next visit, I used my Taj Inner circle Gold Upgrade vouchers and was given a nice suite on the first floor however when I called for the butler to unpack my bags etc; the lady on the phone seemed to be absolutely clueless and I left it as it. Things took a turn for the worse when my key cards stopped working (on more occasions than one) and in spite of having told me that I would have a new one within 10 minutes, given I was in a meeting and wanted to grab something from my room right after, nothing was done for over 2 hours when I finally lost my patience and walked down to the reception (Leela, the butler saved the hotel's grace). Again i Just mentioned it to Prateek, who was then the duty manager and assured me that nothing will go wrong hereon. Rest of my stay was uneventful except the terrible food at their Indian restaurant. During my next check in, there seemed to be a lot of confusion. I had asked for an upgrade using my Club voucher and I was told that was done already, however whilst walking to my room (when I realised it wasn't on the club floor) they mentioned there was some confusion and asked me to wait upstairs till they got the new keys! So much so for "we will make sure your stay is perfect". Next day, while I was sitting in the sale room having a conversation with a friend, the gym member opened the door in anger and said "THIS IS A PAID SERVICE" - we did not know as there wasn't any notice with regards to the same. I told the person that I would move out in the next 5 minutes once I wrap up the conversation but the person stood with the door open insisting we leave right away!! Incredibly rude. When I asked for the spa manager I was told he was still not on duty (past afternoon) and would call me in the next 10 minutes. I did not receive any call for over 2 hours till I finally walked down and told the duty manager of the issue. Things went worse when at night, the room temperature dropped and I turned on the heater. It did not seem to work so they sent a maintainence guy at midnight who said he will fix the issue from the main chamber. It was still cold and hence I called again, at this time I was told that the club floor does not have central heaters! WOW - for a room that's over 200 USD a night in cold delhi winters. Next morning I again informed the manager and asked to be connected with the general manager whom I had seen around in the lobby. I was told i would get a call within 2 hours, none of which happened and Mr. Vikram singh (resident manager) called and said things would be taken care of before my return. To my surprise, when I got back to my room they had turned down the temperature (because they "HEARD" that my complaint was that the room was incredibly hot - Really?)? I wonder if they even listen to the guests, in one instance when the shower head fell down and the tub started leaking (at their sister hotel - the Taj Mahal) - their communications manager Shivani, copied and pasted an email with someone else's name. HOW RIDICULOUS! Nevertheless, coming back to my most recent stay, I then asked them for a heater to which i was told that heaters were Out of Stock and they could send more blankets? Is this what one has to expect from a hotel that has supposedly hosted heads of state? At this time I asked for the general manager again and I was told her was informed of the developments and would be in touch - none of which happened. Is this how a guest, who's incredibly loyal to the chain and holds a gold membership deserve to be treated? I was offered a suite upgrade which I politely declined. Next morning, when I was checking out - I was hoping someone would come and apologise or the GM would atleast leave me a note - none of which happened. I left disappointed but did not have the time to write until recently! I checked into the leela during my next visit for a week. I do not recommend this hotel especially when Delhi has other choices for the same price wherein a guest comes first. I hope the Taj group takes a due note of this and makes sure that other guests do not experience something similar or atleast feel like they are cared for. Disappointment!

    • Comfortable stay!

      Have stayed at this Hotel a couple of times. It truly represents the ethos of Taj hotels impeccable service great food modern rooms with all amenities required for a comfortable stay. The swimming pool is very well maintained. Just one suggestion do not have buffet meals at Capital Kitchen. Had buffet dinner at Capital kitchen and there was nothing to talk about the spread was very limited and the wait staff was very inattentive unlike any Taj hotel there were more interested in serving the al carte guests which is let down when you are spending almost $40 per person. Even the breakfast buffet is very average. The other restaurants in the hotel are way better so you can give a skip to Capital Kitchen. Stay was very comfortable and check in and check out was perfect without any hiccups. Would have given a five-star rating but for my experience at the restaurant had to give 4. Would definitely stay here again but would give a skip to Capital Kitchen

      It was a welcome stay for me after experimenting stay at other hotels. Pleasantly surprised on the hospitality extended. The comforts were taken care and issues addressed on priority. Taj ensured safe stay during the onset of pandemic outbreak and it was a smooth handling of Guests... Special mention on Charvi to ensure comforts all through out my stay. Also special mention about Arumugam Mani, chef who took pain in serving authentic masala idli and Podi dosa, a specialty I recommend for travelers.

    • Taj Yet Again!!

      Yes again Taj, always on my favourite list, everything was perfect, as ever ! So also this time amidst of all chaos, of pandemic outbreak, Taj kept us as a family, on all best possible services, in this situation, when the infection chances were highest !! Food services and hospitality, housekeeping everything was perfect. A special word of thanks to the duty manager, Mr. Prateek, who assured us all the help and support. He arranged a comfortable departure too!

      Outstanding hotel, in a quiet part of Delhi. Lovely pool area and gardens. The rooms are spacious and very well equipped. The toiletries and towels are checked twice a day, with top ups for coffee and tea making. The staff are excellent across the whole hotel. The Concierge area were particularly helpful, offering advice on trips and places to see. The breakfast was first class, with extensive choice of food and drinks. The evening buffet was very good. Wide selection and hot! Happy Hour was popular in the bar. Wine however was very expensive, which was apparent across the whole of India. We will certainly recommend this hotel to others. Thank you all.
