    • Great Hotel & Staff

We stayed here for 4 nights in June before heading north for Football. We didnt know what to expect from Figueira da Foz but the Sweet Atlantic Hotel and Spa was a lovely hotel. Hotel was modern inside, although exterior was slightly dated in places. Room was great size, terrific view, clean and spotless with everything you need in it. Staff were great, especially one of the bar staff - we didnt get his name but he made us feel very welcome and accommodated our picky needs. Prices very reasonable and comparable with local cafes and bars. We didnt use the spa but we were given a tour (after closing hours) and shown the treatments available. Ample local parking which we were told was free except during July and August. Would give 4.5/5 if we could.

The Hotel calls itself "Spa-Hotel", but the do not offer the spa to their guest. The ask for an extra charge of 15 Euros (!!!) per guest for using the spa. As they do not tell while booking nor anytime else, we feel cheated by the hotel. Besides: we have booked a quite expensive room (Suite) and even that does not include the spa, niether the breakfast (which even is - in comparison to nearby restaurants or other hotels in the area) extremly expensive. In one word: Do not go there, unless you like "unexpected" costs.

At check-in they did us an up-grade and the suit was enormous (the hotel was before an apart hotel...). The view is splendid and the hotel is nearby the best sea-fruit restaurants of Portugal... The catch was that at check-out the ask us for 20 for breakfast. we thought it was included... They gave us a 50% discount...

Very spacious suite with just minor faults. Very nice breakfast, good staff, very clean, excellent location. Advertising a kitchenette as amenities is a bit of a push as the fridge is really a minibar not very cold, and the bar area is under utilised with draft Heineken beer when Portuguese beer is so much better.

I've never been so happy to arrive at my hotel in my life. We cycled from Furadouro (over 100km) and got slammed by a cold hard rain with about 15 km to go. When we finally descended the hills the great tower in the distance represented salvation. My frozen hands managed to secure a room key and we then had the most fantastic showers ever. Suitably warmed up we were overjoyed to see that we were in a one bedroom suite - which gave us lots of room to spread our soaked gear out for drying. I was also very appreciative of having a hair dryer that did not require a finger on the trigger as we used ours to dry shoes, socks etc. Really it was a lovely and comfortable room with great views. It is just too bad that we visited on a bad weather day. The public areas in the hotel did not inspire me but the setting is great.
