We couldn't go on holiday last year due to health reasons, but this year we went back to our "Home In Bali". We were greeted by Widhi and all our Bali family at the Swastika with such love and affection, that it was amazing. They must get thousands of people staying with them, and they can't remember everyone, but they always make us feel as if we are part of their family and welcome us with open arms. We thank you all for making our time with you something really special. The gardens are maintained by a team of people, many of whom we have seen for many years. They seem to take a real pride in their work, keeping the greenery neatly trimmed and the walkways a joy to use. Our usual room was ready for us when we arrived, and it was wonderful to walk in and feel at home right away. The rooms aren't pristine (there's the usual wear and tear of usage), but they are always clean, neat and tidy, and very large, compared to other hotel rooms we have seen, and above all, they are comfortable. The breakfast (which is included in the room price) is not lavish, but it is more than adequate with the usual cereal, toast, eggs, bacon, coffee and tea, and it certainly suffices until lunchtime. All in all, this hotel suits us down to the ground and we wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else. Thank you once again to our Bali family at the Swastika Bungalows, for another terrific time with you all.

    • I give it all full ticks but the internet is at turtle speed

My partner & I ( retirees from W. Australia) just loved our one week stay here. Swastika is situated perfectly in serene Sanur. A short walk outside the hotel are great restaurants, cafes and Hardies supermarket. The hotel massage spa salon is moderately priced and excellent. Across the road is a laneway taking you about five minutes to the beach and more eateries. All staff at Swastika are friendly and very helpful. The buffet breakfast is basic and adequate though. Tea was luke warm every day. There are three swimming pools. The larger pool has a swim up bar, hence there is more noise if your room is near here.. or not, depending on noisy drinkers. We opted for the smaller pool towards the front of the property where the atmosphere is laid back and rooms are quiet. We were given upstairs room number 52, so two flights of stairs to climb so aching knees were an issue as they had no ground floor rooms in this area free. We are definately returning here for our next Bali holiday so this is our chosen destination and accomodation. We have travelled extensively throughout Asia for many years so we have had many varied experiences. Swastika ticks all the boxes for me apart from the fact that the internet is incredibly intermittent and slow which we found so frustrating. It is easy to hail a bluebird taxi at the entrance to this hotel. The bed was comfortable, pillows good. The white doona cover is showing signs of use with stains. Our room was spacious with king size bed. The shower is good though the hot water is extremely hot and comes through the shower head intermittently. The bar fridge is located in the bathroom. Only one bath towel per person, no hand towels. Shampoo, conditioner and shower gel complimentary, also two small bottles of complimentary water each day. The surrounding gardens are very well maintained and attractive. We paid 200,000 rupia ( $20.00 AUD ) for the hotels car to take us to the airport. This was the same as getting a regular taxi from Sanur to the airport and much less stress. .

My last review of this hotel was in 2010 things are different now,we have just returned from a stay there and it has changed a great deal the rooms we had this time were lovely they had been remodelled but still maintained a generous size with plenty of room for 2 people to easily move around the single beds were a good size but mattresses were hard we enjoyed a large verandah and there are 3 pools all clean and 2 were easy to get into but the best thing of all was that they have now installed a lift which was very appreciated by the older guests going to breakfast Swastika is surrounded by lovely gardens it is central to shopping, markets and the beach one very important note though and which needs mentioning is the shower the water is dangerously hot to the point we were nearly scalded a few times this would be the one thing stopping us staying again next year we had 2 rooms and both had trouble with the showers everything else was fine the staff are always lovely to deal with and I love the cats that come to visit

    • A faultless stay in a beautiful setting

From the moment we arrived we have been impressed by the attentive and friendly staff and by the cleanliness of the rooms and grounds. The gardens are simply beautiful and the three swimming pools (each with a very different atmosphere) are superb. A great breakfast with a vast range of food, Balinese Coffee and tea, fresh fruit and fresh fruit juices and egg/pancake station where your order is prepared and then brought to your table. We will definitely come back.
