    • Kennington Park Cafe & Pizzaria Reopens

      Reviewed 15 July 2019

The Kennington Park Cafe has reopened and now serves pizza made with authentic Neapolitan sourdough and cooked to perfection in a wood oven. The building has been restored and refurbished. It is a lovely tranquil spot to sit and watch the world go by.

    • Good local park but STILL no cafe.

Good spot for organised/informal tag rugby. Flat, cut, enough trees, easy going local users and not too close to the traffic fumes. Great pity that the cafe, which had a healthy catchment area and ample footfall has been allowed to stand empty for almost all of this year. Whats with the council?!

    • Sunday Morning in the park.

      Reviewed 07 August 2018

Used to meet here every Sunday morning for coffee and a natter. Unfortunately cafe now closed whilst council look for a new investor and has been for more than 6 months. Park itself is well used and well loved but toilets are abysmal. Local school kids use park for sports and no facilities! All in all it is one of the best in the neighbourhood but could be better.

Ok park if one wants to relax..I found the other big parks in the city were more appealing. This one just didn't do it for me...

The omens are unpromising, located next to the busy A3, there was a temporary fairground being put up (or possibly being taken down) when I visited. But there are signs that well-meaning people are attempting to make the park a place more than just a green space for dog walkers to use. The flower garden is impressive and there is little litter, and then there is BeeUrban, which is a great initiative. Not being familiar with Kennington, I expected to see lots of big dogs but in fact the most common dog enjoying itself was small terriers. There is also a memorial to a terrible event that occurred in the early part of WWII when over a 100 civilians died during an air raid. The website of the friends of the park is also worth exploring.
