    • Great hotel to end the vacation

The personel is really friendly. They help you immediatly if you have any problems in your room. They really try their best to understand you! The breakfast was good. Enough variation! We had dinner one time in the hotel and it wasnt wow. But des gouts et des couleurs, on discute pas. The room was also nice, enough room for two! It was clean enough, but I think they can improve if it comes to housekeeping. On checkout, Andah helped us with our boarding passes and they held on to our luggage until it was time to leave for the AirPort. The swimmingpool was an absolute added value and perfect for relaxing!

    • PARADISE! 100% awesome!

      Reviewed 12 September 2019

Hey everyone, I had to come on here and let you all know how wonderful my stay at Sri Phala was! I stayed in the deluxe room 229 from 8/31/2019 - 9/9/2019. The following are why I am returning in March of 2020 to Sri Phala. (I'm addicted to Bali and Sri Phala) The Staff: First and foremost I want to say I was alone on this vacation. Now it did not feel like I was alone as the staff were not only helpful but incredibly friendly. I was not only greeted every morning but the Sri Phala team also took time to make sure my excursions were fun, to see photos of my trip, and even to comment on the souvenirs I bought. Mini at the front desk is a rock star! She was the most familiar face I saw and ALWAYS had plenty to tell me and talk about. Cok, Adi, and Endah were awesome as well. The front end staff will not treat you like a guest, but like a friend. Everyone of them made sure I had the best possible stay and gave great recommendations for food and excursions. The restaurant staff were equally amazing. They helped me pick what local cuisine to try and also made sure that I had a constantly filled cup and plenty of conversation. Dede and Yoga greeted me with a smile and any special requests I made (like Dijon on my tuna sandwiches) they made sure it happened! I will say I am a bit bias as I spent more time talking to Febri than the others. She says she was new but customer service is in her blood! Shes so sweet and friendly. I booked a tour guide/driver through the Hotel as well and despite me talking his ear off and asking a million questions Yoga gave me so much information about the places I visited as well as about his family and culture! The Balinese people are the most beautiful people in the world. Inside and out! I can't say enough how my experience was not just good customer service but the team genuinely made me feel happy, welcome, safe, and like a friend. The Room: The room was very large with a HUGE bathtub and comfortable bed. When I say HUGE bath tub I mean it. I am 6'3 inches tall and this was the first bathtub I could comfortable lounge in. The air conditioning worked very well and the room was clean and modern. The Resort: They have two gorgeous pools and the entire place is covered with artworks, gardens, and fountains. It's a mix of modern comfort but in the shell of an ancient Hindu City. The entire place is gorgeous and completely symbolize the rest of the Island. I did not see ANY bugs beyond a fly here and there which is a HUGE plus for me. There were little geckos around at night and big beautiful fruit bats singing and flying around. Absolutely stunning resort. The restaurant had tremendous food and the breakfast buffet was bountiful, delicious, and diverse. I HAVE NEVER EATEN SO MUCH FRESH FRUIT IN MY LIFE! Location: There are about 5 ATM's within a 5 minute walk as well as some nice restaurants and a Dunkin Doughnuts. More importantly it is about a 5 minute walk to the Sanur beach and docks to visit the Islands. The taxi to and from the airport was only 200,000 IDR.

    • Our New Home In Sanur

      Reviewed 05 March 2019

We have been visiting Sanur for nearly ten years. Regular readers of my reviews will know that despite being something of an adventurer, I remain a creature of habit, but my wife turned out to be worse than me. When I was having difficulty getting a cheap flight and the Mentari was fully booked, I suggested northern Bali, but my wife insisted on northern Sanur. Sri Phala looked comparable to the nearby Mentari and was cheaper, so it looked like a good alternative. In fact, it is better than the Mentari in almost every respect. In common with the Mentari the approach is not inspiring, indeed it's off the bypass. Theoretically this means it's further from the beach, but there is a back door which opens onto Hang Tua III before the Mentari, making it closer. One aspect on normally being on Hang Tua III is that we rarely cross the bypass and in thirty years of visiting Bali have never been to Denpasar. Despite the guide book warnings we crossed the bypass and set off along Hang Tua to find an area not unlike Pondok Indah but without the traffic. Even the centre of Denpasar was quite unlike any Indonesian city and could have been Malaysia it was so clean, well-organised and indeed wealthy. I can really recommend the new Pasar Badung, especially Pasar Antik over the kali. I booked the cheapest room at Sri Phala and like the Mentari it had a huge bed and if anything the room was bigger. Like the Mentari it's not new, but cleaning seems adequate. I was delighted to find it had a bath and I soaked in my first bath in some nine months. I am sorry to disappoint Australian readers but despite being a Pom I shower twice a day and take ablutions five times. Like the Mentari the Sri Phala is set in wonderful gardens and maybe here there is a negative comparison as they are not as well kept, but the lack of manicuring didn't bother me one bit. Despite what other reviewers have said there are two pools, neither massive, but they are pools. I didn't actually use the pool as two days before leaving I got my usual flu and ended up spending the rest of the holiday in the room, again! Around the gardens are villas, which if we bring our daughters again would be a cheap alternative to two rooms. It was strange that the Mentari was full as it was low season and Sanur was empty, so was the Sri Phala. I do miss banter with fellow Brits, but last time nobody spoke to me. I think BREXIT had created an atmosphere between the Dutch and the Brits, who were recreating the Battle of Goodwin Sands with sunloungers and rolled up copies of Hello and Prive magazines. Whatever neither the Dutch nor the Brummies spoke to me, so the Sri Phala being empty wasn't an issue. I booked room only as food in the Mentari is so poor it's not worth bothering even for breakfast. Amazingly the food in Sri Phala is good and reasonably priced, my wife said the nasi goreng was the best she'd tasted in Bali. Nevertheless, the new Canvas Cafe on Hang Tua provides a trendy and healthy alternative to hotel breakfasts. We didn't really get to know any of the staff but all seemed helpful and friendly. So we will definately return, maybe for the New Year.
