    • Conference Center with a Castle Facade -- Disappointing

There is nothing wrong with the facilities at Lough Eske Castle, but if you're looking for an authentic castle experience, I wouldn't recommend Lough Eske. We were there two nights and while the service was excellent -- as it was everywhere in Ireland, the castle was a disappointment. The facility attracts large groups. So, instead of a quiet, intimate dinner in the Castle's main dining room, we were a table of two seated among 3 large tables of noisy groups. The majority of rooms are identical and unremarkable in any way and located down several wings of long hallways -- again giving it the feel of a conference center. The public rooms are very nice and perhaps we should have spent more time in them. This may be a matter of unrealistic expectations. But having stayed in other castles in Ireland, I would have to say that there are more authentic experiences to be had.

Beautiful rooms in a beautiful hotel. The facade of the original castle is there, the rest is a modern and very well done hotel. We ate at the pub, which was very good. We were able to get a very good rate through Expedia relative to booking direct. At the rates on the hotel site we would have thought it expensive. It was not cheap through Expedia but seemingly fair for the quality.

Words are not enough to describe this magnificent piece of gem in Ireland. Truly one of the best hotels in the world. The ambiance, staff, food, spa, amenities - everything is just soooooo great. Would be back here again soon.

I recently stayed at Lough Eske with my mother for a spa weekend. We booked a sleep escape package with 90 minute treatments, dinner, bed and breakfast. The staff were generally very nice and attentive (special mention to Neil in Father Brownes bar who is a great bar man and really goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome). The treatments were excellent, evening music very entertaining and the room very nice. The only down sides related to the long queue for breakfast and the maintenance of the pool and thermal suite which showed signs of rust and disrepair in some places. They were also guests vaping in the relaxation area which my mother found quite uncomfortable. Generally, a nice stay at a well maintained hotel.

Stayed here two nights while traveling throughout Ireland. There were wedding receptions at the hotel both nights, and the first night we were in a room just opposite the hall (room was on the rear of the building, #211). Since there is no A/C we needed to leave the windows open and run a fan; the reception noise was really bad (and the beds were sagging, too), so we asked to be moved the next day and were upgraded to a fabulous corner suite that made us forget all our troubles ! Fantastic bed and bathroom, and 4 windows to open on a quiet courtyard. Didnt eat in the main restaurant, but the 2 pubs had good food. The grounds are nice as well. Our thanks to the wonderful lady at the desk who gave us the suite and gave us a good memory !
