    • Such a disappointment

After 14 days touring northern Spain, family run hotels have been the best and the larger international chains have underdelivered on service, quality and price... hotel silken gran Teatro is no exception, shockingly impersonal staff, a lack of any will to resolve issues with the room and a formulaic response to everything. However, rooms clean, but poorly laid out for twin usage.

It has been my third time in Burgos, but staying in this hotel I had the opportunity to enjoy the city better than other times. The location is amazing, close to the river and 2 minutes walking from the cathedral!

We only had one night here while on a Globus tour, but this is a great base for visiting the charming city of Burgos, which is perfectly walkable, and fun to explore. Our room was modern and clean, and the beds and pillows were very comfortable. The bathroom is well stocked with soap products (which we appreciated!) Our dinner was part of a tour package, so it was in a private dining room, but it was generous and delicious. Breakfast was really exceptional. Plenty of delicious fruit options (have the fresh orange juice!) and a full array of sweet and savory options. I had churros y chocolate and was not disappointed! The staff was friendly and helpful. A good value for your money.

We drove here. Reasonably easy to find with sat nav. On the corner of a 1 way street beside the river and opposite a pedestrian bridge over to a park and the museum of Human Evolution. Decor of the hotel is modern. The room was smallish but more than adequate with a good bathroom. The room looked onto the central atrium. The dining area lacked atmosphere. We went out to a caf for breakfast in the sunshine. There is a roof top bar which I think is open to the public. Gives a good view over the city. Parking can't be reserved. It is underground on a couple of levels and very tight in a big car. Cost is 15.50 Euros. Burgos is a great walking city, all sites are close to the hotel. Its worth the effort to walk up the many steps to the castle. You get a view over the spires of the cathedral and beyond.

Nice hotel, it's quite big and modern. Had a bath. Lots of pillows on the big bed. Had a good nights sleep. Good breakfast, with lots of choice however, if you are wanting an early start, breakfast on the weekends does not start until 0800. We stayed two nights but only had one breakfast.
