    • Needs some TLC from the Marriott Co.

We were on a guided tour of the four major islands of Hawaii. Our two night stay at the Sheraton Kona Beach Resort was pleasant, however our room had stained carpet, a small hole in our entrance door, along with visible stains on a lampshade. Too bad, because the resort layout was nice with some pretty areas, along with a unique Manta Ray viewing area off the large dining area. However, our room was not up to the standards of the three other hotels we stayed in. If the Marriott Corporation now owns the Sheraton, hopefully the cosmetic improvements will happen over the next year's or so. Shame on us for not asking to be moved, since we later learned the hotel was only 60% booked. The meals were average for such a large resort. Also, the dining personnel had to work with hard copy roster lists, vs other hotels that have such logistics in digital form. ( more efficient) According to our tour guide, the Sheraton Kona Beach Resort was "the best hotel in that area." Thank doesn't say much for that area. We did enjoy the town, with easy walking distances to many shops and tourists spots.

    • Lots of Lava Rock!

Enjoyed this hotel - had a beautiful view of the ocean & very large balcony on the first floor but would recommend that you ask for possibly an upper floor. I felt like my room was musty the dcor was limited in the room. The ceilings are extremely high & the room was very large for a king size room. This resort is an older property with a beautiful open air lobby. Also there is a very nice waterfall into the pool that runs all day & I could actually hear the sound of rushing water all day long. Luckily they turn this off nightly when the pool closes. Hotel personnel was friendly, especially when getting pool towels. The is an awesome slide that goes into the pool that was very exciting. Nice feature there is an adult pool only! Did not eat in the restaurant but had drinks & appetizers at the bar (bar tenders were very engaging) -there was an awesome deck that a spot light shines into the ocean where you may possibly see a huge manta ray in the ocean at night time when they do their feeding on plankton which the light draws them to. You cannot swim off of this shore as there are huge lava rocks all in the water. The property is well maintained with lava rock everywhere and nice areas to walk the property. Great exercise room as well!

    • PUA WAS MAGNIFICENT !!!

We recently wed at the Sheraton Kona Chapel. Our wedding planner was Puamelia Mataele and she was wonderful from start to finish. Pua was in complete command and handled every detail with amazing patience and professionalism. Nothing was out of the question, she just never said no. Her savvy advice was welcomed as every decision she helped us with was a solid 10. She suggested Aunty Tutu for our officiant and that was a game changer as was the amazing suite she secured for us. Pua's work ethic is second to none as she went well beyond our expectations with the amount of time and effort she put in. She got involved with the restaurant and got us a table overlooking the sunset and the ocean for our reception dinner. Pua is genuine and honestly cared about our wedding. The Sheraton Kona Chapel on Keauhou Bay is a beautiful spot for a wedding and Pua Mataele is a 5 star wedding planner. Thank you Pua, you made our wedding day one we will never forget.

Not a bad spot, better than the reviews indicate. Very nice common areas, lobby, pools. Really enjoyed the adult pool without screaming kids. Amazing location and views of the ocean. Rooms are ok, not fancy but roomy with private balconies. Enjoyed the quiet and the waves. The restaurant is nice but way over priced. Good for brunch. And the food overall in Kona is nothing short of terrible. Loved watching the manta rays off the shore at night - wish I had time to swim with them.
