    • The location is just brilliant, as is the food and service

We reviewed this hotel a year ago, when we stayed in June 2018. This year we were here in July for a weekend and enjoyed it even better than last time because of our room. We had a room in one of the 2 "Annex buildings", and we were in the one to the right as seen from the main building (the one which has the Spa). We were on the first floor (2nd floor for readers from the US) and our room was close to the train track for the Bayerische Zugspitzbahn and it was very picturesque and idyllic, especially when the trains passed by. Last year we were in the main building but we liked this building's rooms better, a lot more modern and the location was wonderful. Breakfast and dinner were excellent again, I suggest you book half-board, it's really worthwhile and saves you from having to hunt for eateries in the evening when you're tired from the day. We'll come here again, hopefully next year, especially since we again didn't make it into the Hllentalklamm, whose entrance is just next to the hotel. It was too hot this time, so we went up to the Zugspitze twice and we drove to the Partnachklamm one afternoon, which was lovely.

    • Frindly spa-hotel Bavarian-style

The hotel is larger than most in this area because the older (and perfectly renovated) building is connected with the newer (and perfectly fitting in style) building across the road. Sitting on the very edge of a small village and facing a beautiful mountain, it is a perfect place for the hikers - and some tracks could be rather challenging.

    • Restaurant Review: Absolutely Average for Very High Prices

The food was extremely average; greasy Schnitzel, factory chips, bottle salad dressing, and served with real attitude ( we had to ask to have the visibly dirty table wiped, at which point the waiter flicked the crumbs on the floor past our laps). But the reason I am taking time from my busy life to write this up is that the prices were CRAZY. Our lunch cost 30% more than it would have in Garmisch down the road. It's a shame that this extortionate offering monopolises one of the best Zugspitze views in the region....hmmm. Could that be the root of the problem? Feast your eyes while your stomach rebels and your wallet empties.

Perfect place to spend romantic long weekend! We planned to stay only 1 night but had to extend it! Quiet, clean, comfy place with lots to do around. Breakfasts.... OMG, you could find everything! 100% will be back!

    • Great location but not service oriented personal

A 3 star hotel ( not 4 star as claimed) in a great location. The reason for the 3 star is that the place feels impersonal. Customer service is sorely lacking. No one really goes the extra mile to help. You get your room when you check in but thats it. No hello/ good morning or any greeting/ smile thereafter. Customer service is what makes all the difference to guests and this hotel has none. Unfriendly staff. Plenty of buffet food at breakfast and dinner. Food quality was ok. Rooms are spacious but still have old fashioned bathtup showers which can be challenging and "dangerous" specially for older people whenn climbing in and out of the bathtub. We wanted to extend our stay by one day to exolore the area more. The reception staff did not get back to me. I had to check with them a few times and finally got an answer that they cant accomodate us. We mentioned availability on internet and the answer was that we have to move with this option (statement came without further checks) Elevator cleaning (only one) was done during peak hour (9am) when guests either come down for breakfast/return to their rooms.
