    • Tranquil gardens

We didn't have time to look around the priory and spent some considerable time in the extensive gardens; the colourful herbaceous borders, wildflower areas and the lovely walk across the river down to the mill (not open). We did have a lovely lunch in the caf, which has an extensive choice of light lunches and were amused by the staff having to sush-out the ducks that came in to explore!

Popped in over the summer holidays and were greeted by a very warm welcome from the lovely lady at the ticket desk. Very interesting tour of the house and the gardens were great. Nice little childrens play area and cafe as well as many picnic spots spread around the grounds. Very enjoyable day all round!

Car park looked busy but it was a really tranquil place to visit, as there is plenty of space to disperse visitors. Interesting house to look around (but doesn't take very long maybe 3/4 hr), pretty gardens and lawned areas. Great cafe - good coffee and delicious cake that tasted 'home made' rather than mass produced. Had a sandwich lunch - freshly made and very generous filling, really tasty. Both morning coffee and cake, and lunch very good value. Really pleasant staff to in the cafe. The visit was all the sweeter as we were able to use our 'Gardeners' world' 2 for 1 card that was free with the May 2019 edition and valid for a year.

Enjoyed a sunny day at this place. Lovely well kept gardens, friendly and helpful staff from all areas-shop, tour guides, cafe staff. The ducks made our day too- I dont mean to sound quackers Just thought the Souvenir shop and cafe was a little pricey.

This is a lovely old house with well-kept gardens and grounds. Very interesting to look around the rooms, and the lady telling us about the history was very pleasant. Nice little caf, and a few other things to view. The water wheel was not working when we visited, but otherwise, very good, and not too expensive with the 2 for 1 offer from the Gardener's World Magazine. Also, there is no-one trying to sell you membership to anything.
