A joke, a scam - I'm having huge doubts regarding the good ratings You arrive and discover there is no real parking, and you need to pay "tickets" to access the beach... AC was extremely loud and too powerful, no way you could adjust it There was a water leak that almost drove us crazy all night long They forgot to tell us that work was being carried on during the night, so we heard loud bangs all night long. A real nightmare At 4am, tried to find somebody downstairs at reception, but nobody was here. Tried to call reception but the person hang up as soon as I asked "can you speak english?" The next morning, the staff seriously offered us a "voucher" for the beach for compensation, admitting that there were "new untrained workers" doing the night job However, when we complained to, they lied to the platform saying nothing happened that night... They don't even deserve 3 stars

A week in Alassio at the Grand Spiaggio was a last minute decision based on location and cost. Alassio is a beach resort frequented primarily by Italian families. The hotel is on the beach front with its own section of private beach area. Historically we have avoided tourist hotels but the Grand Spiaggio was absolutely fine, very clean, a lovely buffet breakfast on the sixth floor runs from 8am - 10am and its a wonderful start to the day to gaze over the spectacular Italian coast through the wall of glass while enjoying breakfast. English is spoken by very few in this area; and sadly our Italian is virtually non-existent but hotel staff could not have been more helpful and we had no difficulties what-so-ever. Our room was a fairly standard size with a small balcony, good closet space, fridge and the usual bathroom. Our only complaints were that our two pushed together 3foot mattresses drifted apart during the night leaving a 4-6inch gap each morning, the hairdryer was slow and cool and we dont recommend their daquerri. We would definitely return and absolutely recommend - great value great location great staff and very clean.

    • Good Hotel, both clean and friendly can be noisy though

We stayed her for 11 nights (1 night free) at the end of May 2019. We were a little early in the season so Alassio was not geared up for tourists. The hotel's rooftop pool and bar were closed. We went with Citalia who no longer provide reps so we had to research the area ourselves. The hotel was excellent, the rooms clean, large enough and the staff friendly and very helpful but with limited English. We would have liked a sea view room but none were available. The room was on the right hand side (facing the hotel) on the first floor. Unfortunately some building work was going on at the neighboring building which also had a kitchen servicing a snack bar. It was very noisy and dusty ad the balcony afforded no privacy and was unusable. On complaining we were moved to a room on the other side of the hotel. The room overlooked a road and the traffic could be noisy at times but it was better than the other room but had poorer wifi. The hotel was conveniently positioned and handy for cafes and bars and an 8 minute walk to the COOP (turn left at Bar Londres). Breakfast was very good albeit self service and a coffee machine. Other than cereal and the usual continental breakfast as well a toaster there was a boiling water bath for self cook eggs although their was ready prepared scrambled eggs, bacon and cooked tomatoes. They had tomato juice too :) Dinner was good there was an excellent antipasti and I particularly enjoyed the soup.the meat course however was not always to my taste and rather rustic. Sweet was the cake of the day, ice cream or fresh fruit. Wine was around the 25 euros a bottle and water 3 euros a bottle. 400ml of Becks lager was 5 euros. The resort and the hotel is very popular with Germans and there were few British tourists there. The hotel catered for bus trips from Germany and the bar tended to be very full and because of the low ceiling a little noisy. Alassio charges a tourist tax and charges about 29 euros for parking and 20 euros each to use the beach all day. Overall I would strongly recommend the hotel and despite the poor weather we enjoyed a very relaxing lazy holiday.

    • Great location and breakfast with a view

      Reviewed 09 April 2019

We booked the hotel only the night before and got a good rate although a bit shocked with the surcharge for the dog which was 29 Euros ... elsewhere in the region we paid 10 Euros with dog bed and food dishes provided as well! Our room was very small but spotlessly clean with a good sized bathroom and plenty of hot water. The hotel was situated at the edge of the main town but it was a lovely walk along the promenade to get to the main area and wasn't a problem for us. Breakfast was included and was excellent - served in the beautiful roof top restaurant with stunning views. The rooftop solarium and pool would be fabulous in season. The bar area was comfortable and it was good to be able to get a drink before heading to bed. I would recommend the hotel for anyone visiting Alassio and only took off a point for the dog surcharge which is the most expensive we have ever had to pay.
