    • Naturally Amazing

      Reviewed 04 September 2019

All the other reviews give a very accurate description of the lodge, the staff, the meals, the rooms, the activities. For us, it was the first-time experience of a flooded rain forest where the islands are submerged by the rising Rio Negro. Most activities were centered around the river - canoeing, piranha fishing, night boat cruise, sun rise cruise, dolphin watching.... The lodge did a naturally amazing job of highlighting the flooded rain forest and making every activity and experience very authentic.

    • Amazon Lodge

We had a wonderful experience at this lodge! I cannot say enough regarding their desire to please the customer. The guides all spoke English and were extremely experienced in their trade. The drivers (via boat) know the terrain as they're natives, so you always feel comfortable on the river with them. The lodge is organized and provides you with your custom schedule upon arrival. We had significant dietary restrictions and had a caterer prepare food for us to bring along. The kitchen staff and upper management went above and beyond asking detailed questions to make sure they handled everything correctly. They even went shopping on their own volition to replace items they noticed we were running low on. In addition, we asked about an activity that wasn't included in our schedule due to time constraints. They immediately found a way to add it in for us and we had a private guide for two. I think the small size (I think they have a total of 24 cottages/bungalows/villas combined) of this lodge allowed for an extremely personal touch that the customer feels.

    • Delightful lodge with amazing tours through the Rio Negro river and forest.

      Reviewed 24 August 2019

We took the entire family, 11 to 75 years old. Everyone had a great time. We had the same tour guide for the entire time. (Rob) He was a walking Wikipedia and very helpful. He pointed out wild life that no one else saw till he pointed it out. He knew all the trees and shrubs and could tell us what the native people would use them for. The lodge cottages were roomey and very well appointed. Plenty of room for 2 or 3 people. The Anavilhanas forest and Rio Negro are alive with plants and animals, and who would have thought? No mosquitos in this part of the amazon due to the acidic water of the river. I would reccomend it to anyone who has an interest in the Amazon.

    • Excellent stay at a great lodge.

      Reviewed 19 August 2019

Our stay at Anavilhanas was truly excellent. The quality of the accommodation is great, the rooms are spacious and clean and the central areas are well looked after. Situated in the middle of the jungle it is quiet but we felt safe during our entire stay. The excursions are top. Not too long for our kids to get bored, just right. The staff was really friendly and did their utmost best to make guests feel at home

    • Amazing story...

      Reviewed 02 August 2019

Anavilhanas is in itself an amazing story. The owner ( I don't know him, btw) seems to be both a human and environmentallhy minded person and a good business man. The lodge is run in a very proffesional way, by well trained staff, with excellent food and living quarters and the activities are well calibrated, not too tiring, not too easy and the guides, who are locals are al very competent and knowledgeable about the local history and natural habitat. I heard amazing stories from them that paint a vivid picture of the Amazon and its peoples. We stayed there for five days and enjoyed it very much! It may be a bit more expensive, but it is sure worth it.
