    • Uncaring General Manager

We had several issues with cleanliness and air conditioning comfort with our room. Then breakfast made our stay even worse. It is the smallest breakfast buffet area of ALL the Residence Inns we have ever stayed at. So small, guest are bumping into each other trying to put their breakfast plate together. We went down for breakfast around 7am which is at the start of their breakfast hours not the very end. The eggs in the serving dish were full but already totally dried out. I asked the breakfast attendant if she had any "fresh" scrambled eggs. She said they would be ready in 10 minutes so I waited. Well, when they came out, they were just as dried out as the others. The bacon was also overcooked and then all of a sudden no more potatoes. I asked the attendant and she said "no more", yet it was only an hour into the breakfast time. I like "hot breakfast" so my husband and I ended up going to Cracker Barrel for a real breakfast. So much for "complimentary breakfast" as this property. Around the time I was having breakfast issues, the BonVoy app send me a message asking me how my visit is going with the choice of a smiley face and a frowney face. I clicked on frowney and then added my comments. At other Marriotts, I would get a very timely reply. Not at this one. We didn't check out until noon so someone had 4 1/2 hours to contact me. No one did. Upon check out at the Front Desk, I noticed the lady's name tag said General Manager but couldn't see her name because her long hair blocked it. I said I see that you are the GM, I'm surprised that you or someone didn't contact me this morning when I expressed my displeasure with my stay via the BonVoy app. She made some excuse that they don't get those guest responses until much later. I don't believe that because of the immediate responses I have received at other Marriott properties. Plus, the whole purpose of the app is for the property to address requests and problems ASAP. Maybe it's time for a change in Management at this property!

I was moving my daughter from Minnesota to Michigan and after a long day of driving, and not finding any hotels around the Joliett area, we stumbled upon the Residence Inn in Hammand @ 7740 Corinne Drive, Hammond IN. We received a "studio" room and wow, was that room amazing! It was 2:30 am but what we saw of the outside and inside of the hotel through our bleary sleep deprived eyes was very nice! What I liked: Hotel check in was quick Room "studio" was spacious Kitchen area with sink and refridgerator Seating area with large couch Bed was comfortable Bathroom was spacious Free breakfast area What I didn't Like: I didn't have enough time to use the pool Not getting photos of the wonderful studio room we were in. If you are traveling through and need a clean, roomy comfortable place to stay this is your place.

I stayed at this Residence Inn last year as the hotel had a special rate for members of a committee having a meeting in the area. I've stayed at the Fairfield Inn and the Courtyard in the same cluster, so I was looking forward to staying at this Marriot property. The check-in is seamless, the property is quite vast, with lots of parking around the hotel. It is located right off the highways and is close to gas, food, coffee, and shopping which is great if you're there for a few days. My room itself was large and had plenty of room. There was a couch, a kitchen, a work area, and a large king bed. The Hotel has an outdoor area with chairs, tennis courts etc. Overall the rooms are great, just a little dated, but have every convenience you would need for one or more nights. There is a great selection at the breakfast buffet, whether you want to eat healthily or not. The choices are great and in the evening there is a reception where they serve beer, wine and snacks. My only issue was that the fitness center is very small, and only has a few machines and a small selection of free weights. Every time I went to work out the room was full. Such a large hotel, yet such a small gym.

From the minute we arrived (a day late due to an airline issue) this location treated us great and got us right into our rooms! Then late this evening Jorge helped me get a snack to end a very long day. Great customer service!

Have stayed at this property several times over the past 2 years. Service and conditions have plummeted. Filthy carpets, sparsely stocked Marketplace, internet not working, surly desk staffs that act like they are doing a favor just to speak with you. There are several hotels in this cluster. I would avoid this property if at all possible. There are a couple of Hilton properties here that might be worth a try. I have a reservation to stay here in two weeks...consider it cancelled.
