    • All inclusive beach resort and lunch

We booked this four hour excursion on our cruise as Royal Carribbean is now doing 5 day cruises out of Galveston Texas and they go to Cozumel and Progresso. Progresso is the port for this area of Mexico. There is nothing to do in Progresso so they take you outside to other locations. You could do ruins but we were with a family with young kids 2 and 5 years old so they thought it would be better to do a beach excursion. The facility was very nice and you can actually stay here. They have room rates that we thought were cheap by American standards. We had a beach and pool to use for the time we were there and they have us a buffet lunch and free drinks. Yes you can over do the alcohol so be careful. The beach is nice and we didnt find rocks so it was soft sand. They offer lounge chairs to use which made it nice to put our things down and relax. The place did have a gift shop but for the most parts its just beach and pool. Its a good option for kids or people who dont want to climb the Mayan ruins.

    • Good beach front location, Mediocre everything else

      Reviewed 23 September 2019

Hotel Reef Yucatan is a beach front property near Telchac with mediocre everything else. Food, drinks, and rooms are below 3 star. Service is not good. If you are looking for a 3 star property of higher, do not consider it.

I loved my beachfront room. Sandy Beach with a lot of seashells and visible fish near shore. Beach and poolside service by staff who are calm and positive. Best activities are kayaking and baby sea turtle release.

    • great place to stay

I stayed here July 2019 and it was very nice, the people are amazing. The food could have been better but I believe they use traditional food. I figured out I'm not a fan of Yucatans food. If you are considering staying at this location do have in mind it is a long trip to get to Progresso about 40 min/ $410 peso uber ride and then another 30 ~ min ride to get to Merida. That can be in a taxi for about $200 pesos or try one of the buses or vans they charge about $19-22 pesos. The rooms where very clean, the air conditioning worked - thankfully ! and the activities offered were fun. Great place for families not so much for younger single crowd.

    • Carnival Excursion

      Reviewed 29 June 2019

Decided on this excursion from Carnival Cruises. There is a 40 minute ride from the docks to this location. This place is pretty nice and for an all exclusive resort, it was empty. Carnival had three bus loads of people dropped off so there was close to 120 of us total. The food was not bad. I did wait until late to eat so I missed out on a few things but that's on me, not Hotel Reef. The service was great. The waiters were walking around non stop fetching drinks for everyone. The drinks were very weak. I saw them watering down the liquor once when I went to eat. I'm not every surprised at that in Mexico though. Not sure I would do this one again but we had fun while we were there.
