    • Good Location, Great Breakfast, but poor communications at hotel website

      The location is good, inside Fu Hua Li shopping area. The breakfast was surprised us as there are many varieties and the qualities are good. Hardware inside hotel still new and good condition. Gym and pool area are nice. Noise blocking is good and quiet. We came for celebrating our wedding anniversary. We made the reservation through the hotel official website and we did put some requests at the remark area. However..., when we arrived at the hotel, we found that the hotel didn't receive any message in our booking. They checked with their reservations department even and couldn't see it in their system. Lucky that our confirmation email has the record and had to show them. As a large and famous hotel group, it is not an excuse to tell the guest their hotel system has problem and cannot read the guests' message. We did the online check in through their website but I didn't think it is valid too. I wish the management should pay more attention and make sure the system is updated and developed. This made our stay feel a bit disappointed this time.

      To review my year plan so far and make necessary fine tuning for second half of the year, I decided to spend a few days away from home town - Somewhere nearby and somewhere bring tranquility. Yes, I booked Pullman Midtown again. This time, I d like to share the good service I have experienced with the readers who would potentially select the hotel. The girl who checked me in at the front desk was very patient in assisting me to find a suitable guestroom - I was surprised to see her still wearing a smiling face in the 3rd time I approached her, within 10 mins on my arrival day. The gentleman in black jacket & a tie at the Chinese restaurant on the 4th floor of the hotel was very attentive: I was alone having dinner. He instructed a staff member to get me newspaper from the lobby and offered to serve the dessert after main meal. One might see this is standard operating procedure, but my observation is most hotels & restaurants in the cities where I base and visited have missed this. On the day of departure, I had lunch at the Lobby Lounge. The soup come with the Canadian sirloin was disappointing. The beef was fine with the price point. I am grateful to have given feedback to a gentleman in a black jacket who worked in the Lounge. He spoke to me in fluent Cantonese and understood what good quality of food is all about. Also, he suggested some red berry tea after the main when he was aware that I cannot take alcoholic drink. The tea served with some homemade biscuits completed my meal beautifully. As a hotelier, I am quite touched to have met the service team at Pullman Zhuhai. Credit to the great hotel leadership. And very thankful to Chinese Overseas to bring together a nice mixed used on this plot of land. The tenant mix on the retail section is adorable.

      We stayed in the Pullman Zhuhai the first time driving over from Shenzhen. Greetings are very friendly and free parking is offered. Check in was fast, professional and friendly. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and English speaking. Especially the woman looking over the Gym/pool area was outstanding. The room is nice and clean, a little small but this was expected as the room size is clearly communicated during booking. Great choice of food for breakfast, quality is very good. I would have liked it, if the staff would have guided us to a free table, we were somehow left by ourselves finding one in a quite full restaurant. Also the offering of tea or coffee after sitting down was missing. The location is great, and we took advantage of the free shuttle bus to the border to Macau. Overall a really good choice when staying in Zhuhai, either for business or leisure!

      As a frequent business traveller I stay every month in the Pullman Zhuhai. With the warm and professional hospitality and service shown by the staff it really does feel like home from home. Nothing better than winding down after a long day with a glass of wine in the lobby bar. Jasmine is always welcoming and takes the trouble to go that extra yard with her friendly smile and professional attention to detail.....

      If you have read my post, you would know that I have been with the English version of Tripadisvor since 2007. I have well over 229 contributions. My type of stay would include a budget type hotel to a 5 stars ++ hotels. I am very aware of what is the expectation of proper 5 stars hotel. Since I also know simplified Chinese writing, I have just joined the Chinese version of Tripadvisor as well. I have written a review seperately in simplified Chinese about ZhuHai Pullman. Now let's count the good(s) for Pullman ZhuHai: The location of this hotel is very good because it is right inside the FuHuaLi shopping area. Many good restaurants and shopping in FuHuaLi. Hallway and common areas: kept very clean and free of cigarette smoke smell. Room: the room was kept very clean and absolutely NO cigarette smoke residue smell at all. Pullman ZhuHai actually have a penalty for RMB$1000 if guest smokes inside the room. Wonderful policy. Toilet: all hardware of the toilet is functioning perfectly, no leakage of water or anything like that. toilet was very clean and no problem here. Chinese restaurant on 4th floor: Our family had dim sum here. Food quality was excellent, but the price of tea was overpriced. After DimSum, we bought a box of Moon cake from the restaurant because it is near the Chinese Moon Festival. It tasted delicious. Now the reason why I gave Pullman Zhu Hai such a low rating: At night, my husband took a shower and was drying his thin and short hair, but the hairdryer Pullman Zhu Hai provided was so horrible. It stayed on for about 3 mins and then shut down due to overheating. We need to wait for it to cool down enough so the fuse would kick back in so we can use it for another 3 to 5 mins, then it shuts down again. I have long thick hair and there is no way I would do that all night, waiting for the hairdryer to come on and off just to dry my hair. This is not a 3 stars budget hotel. I called down to the front desk to see if I can get a different type of hairdryer to dry my hair. But the answer I got from them was that Pullman ZhuHai doesn't have any other kind of hairdryer. That would have been O.K., but then the front desk clerk lectured me saying ALL 5 Stars Hotel uses the same type of hair dryer similar to this one. I said you must be joking??? Pullman is not even a top-five hotel in the world ranking how could they have commented on such a thing???????? Obviously, there is no point in talking to this front desk clerk. Next morning when we check out, I ask a person called Joyce Li to let me know the contact email for the General Manager of Zhu Hai Pullman Hotel. How ever, she refused to pass on the information and only gave me a name card of a Front Desk Manager called Francis Zhong. She further claims she doesn't have any detail of her General Manager. if this is true, there is mega problem with the operation of this hotel. At this point, all she wanted to do was to get me out of the front door. She didn't bother to ask what my complaint was about, and she has no interest to listen to this guest. Wow, this is a 5 stars hotel customer service??? Must be the ZhuHai Pullman or the AccorHotels group's specialized training for ZhuHai city only!!!!!! John Webb, Area General Manager at AccorHotels - China Please do not let this ZhuHai Pullman tarnish your company's good name. Do something about customer service in this hotel. You really need well experienced people on your team.
