    • Small, a bit utilitarian

We stayed 3 nights here for a quick visit to Cape Town. The location is really convenient for most of the attractions that are considered safe in Cape Town, so that in itself is pretty important. The hotel itself is functional if all a little awkward. Our room was 2 very small twin rooms with a small entryway and a toilet off one side and the shower off the other. There is no option for twins in the one room, double in the other. Its either 2 twins or 2 doubles in the family rooms. With 4 of us in there, it was pretty cramped. Theres nowhere to eat or sit - just the beds and one small desk crammed into the corner of the room, so we took turns eating breakfast that we brought in ourselves one morning. There didnt appear to be any other amenities at the hotel, or any information in the rooms to tell you if there was. The restaurant was in another building in the business school, so we never visited it. The front desk dont really give any information unless specifically asked, so we had no idea how to activate the power in our room because nobody told us we needed to - you have to insert your key cards in a slot in each room and leave them there for lights and power. This is fine, it just would have been nice to know without a separate trip to reception to find out! Overall, functional but very basic.

We stayed 2 nights at this hotel during our honeymoon. We enjoyed every moment of it. From the warm welcome to the nice goodbye. We checked into a room with a big comfty king size bed witha welcome card with Amarula and cookies. After dinner at the V&A we returned to our room and greeted with a love baloon, champers, feathers and treats. Love staying at this hotel

Nice rooms, but you cant buy a beer or food in the restaurant and charge back to your room. Seems like various bits of htel are owned by different entitities. Restaurant on site has limited menu but was nice enough

    • Good location

Accommodation is set in old jail. Room had 2 bedrooms but bathroom was very small. 5 mins walk to Waterfront with lots of restaurants and shops. Staff friendly. Breakfast great with lots of choices. Not far from airport.

    • Great location, small room

      Reviewed 28 July 2019

We finished our South Africa tour with 4 nights in Cape Town. This hotel has a great location, which is crucial for staying in Cape Town. Some friends of ours stayed in the city centre and did actually go through an attempted mugging (which they forced their way out of). So don't save money by staying in the city, its too dangerous. The hotel is walking distance to Waterfront, which is really important for shopping, eating etc The hotel was a little disappointing in terms of room and services, bearing in mind that we just had 4 nights in hotels on the Garden Route. The cost of the hotel was the same, but what you get for your money is much lower. That being said, this is a big city and there are big city prices. The reception was average as well, I have had much better treatment on arrival in other hotels. Overall, this is a pretty good low budget city hotel. We could have stayed at Table Bay or V&A, but paid three times the price, so in comparison, its not too bad. Would probably not choose this one again.
