This by far was surpassed our expectations! Lets start with Seth at front desk. Very charming and polite. She welcomed us and even gave us a pineapple cocktail upon arrival. What a way to start our vacate. We than went to our room which was very clean and organized. We than went to the pool where we were greated by Michael Laney and Karina (F&B Managers). They went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. We also met Armando and Eli who were always available for assistance. The La Marea Breakfast team was our morning highlights. Kerryanne was always warm and welcoming. Judith, Paul, Islande and Taquesha as well. Vera in the omlette station was amazing! So sweet and kind. I am planning my next vacate as we speak because of the great staff we encountered. Playa Largo! The keys best kept secret!

    • Fantastic Stay

      Reviewed 27 August 2019

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Play Largo Resort. The property still feels new and they have gone the extra mile to make the resort feel welcoming and relaxing. The decor is modern and well thought out (think lots of hammocks, seating around the resort, well laid out pool and beach area, and activity areas for all ages). Our room was very nice and although we did not have any spectacular view, we did have a balcony that looked out onto the tree area so it was still good to sit out on the balcony. The "touches" that the resort adds is great - every evening they have a celebration for the sunset with music and drinks/food for purchase. They also have a well kept tennis/basketball court and a bocce game set up. There is also an activities center that all ages are welcome to use and that was great, as well. Another wonderful thing is that you can always get chairs by the pool and beach. Sometimes we did not make it out of our room until after 12pm and there were still options for sitting in the sun or under an umbrella - that is a huge plus when you want to relax on your own schedule. And, the staff members at the resort are wonderful - they are all incredibly kind and helpful. Whenever you pass someone, they always greet with you a smile and they are quick to help and make sure you are doing fine. Special thanks to Michael Lenar (he was so nice at Eventide), Anne Marie at the desk, and Michael - one of the servers at the pool. Really, though, almost everyone we met, was fantastic. The other highlight of the resort is that the food is excellent (and we are "foodies"). Yes, it is very pricey - but we think of that as standard at a resort - and it is worth the extra money. We ate at all three venues (poolside, and the two restaurants) and the food was fantastic. We did venture to other places in Key Largo, but none were as good as the restaurants on site. One caution is that the resort, although new and well designed, may have some issues as it gets older. Sometimes it seemed that the materials and construction of things were not 5 star quality. Our shower was already breaking, the ceiling in the bathroom was already peeling from humidity, and one of the chaise/couches was broken the entire time of our stay and no seemed to try to repair it. I hope that the management pays attention to the upkeep because if it stays this stellar, we are looking forward to returning for another wonderful stay.

This is a great and relaxing hotel. The pool is great and clean, the private beach is awesome. There is lots of natural shades and the sea water is clean and warm. The hotel is modern and new. The fire ceremony is breathtaking, smores, good music and the most Beautiful sunset. Recommended

    • Very nice!

This is a great resort for relaxing. There is lots of shade if sun is not your thing and a large pool for a dip when you feel the need. The hotel overall is very modern - the rooms are fantastic! Each room as a privacy screen on the balcony which we certainly appreciated. There are 3 restaurants and seafood seems to be the common theme throughout. The La Marea restaurant is nice but very expensive, and not worth it to me - $17 plus tax and gratuity for a glass of merlot is just robbery. With a resort fee of $40 a day, charging that much for a glass of wine is ridiculous.
