A decent hotel. Clean and basic with a reasonable breakfast. Our room, 15, didn't have a straight wall or ceiling, quirky and old. The pillows were very thin but bed comfy. Music went on until about 12.30, not a problem, but need to be aware of as was very loud. There was a background hum in the room, maybe from the resistor? Breakfast was continental (cearel boxes, toast, jam, museli) and several cooked options. Basic but sufficient and well cooked. Friendly staff.

    • Probably fine in winter

When we got there they couldnt find our booking and suggested we go to another hotel, which was an hour away and more expensive. Thankfully they managed to sort it out and gave us a room. The hotel is very Old and not really run down but everthing is a bit worn out. It was a hot summer and the room was just too hot (not even a ventilator) and a small bed, so not very comfortable. The staff was friendly. Not a very exciting breakfast and Forest Row is prettig boring.

    • Pleasany overnight.

Travelling from Belgium to Swindon, This was a sort of half way house after a visit to Hever Castle and gardens. (Well worth a visit.) Checked in by a young lady with a beaming smile. Room was comfortable and quiet. Bed good and we had a restful nights sleep. We ate in, my partner's steak was good, but my pie was a tad dry. Tasty, however. Breakfast in the morning was part buffet and part la carte, all very good. All the staff we were in contact with were always cheerful and helpful. On check out, there was a slight discrepancy on the bill, wrong room items on the wrong bill, but this was rectified quickly and cheerfully. After arrival, we had a drink on the patio,(in a glass, of course) and the prices were, shall we say, a tad on the high side. Ten pounds + for a pint and a glass of white wine!

    • Rest Stop on our way to Eastbourne

We were on our way down to Eastbourne and had a rest stop for a drink and something to eat. We ordered our drinks at the bar and took them outside. We then had a look at the menu and ordered fish and chips, the food came out looked delicious a good portion size and hot. A very great meal sitting outside in the evening sun set us on our journey. The bar and waiting staff were excellent a good stop off for food.

My partner had the steak (comes with chips, salad & onion rings) was really juicy, not dry with superb seasoning 22 The staff are all really friendly, our waitress was welcoming and checked on us halfway through our meal overall great experience Would highly recommend I will definitely be back
