We visited Westport with a group of friends recently and on recommendations stayed at the Westport Woods Hotel. Absolute disaster, dirty marks on the bedside locker, bed cover torn, stains on carpet, dirty windows, etc. And The Customer is supposed to pay though the nose for this. The bar area was dirty and unkempt, is it too much to have the bar staff clear off the dirty dishes and glasses from the tables on a regular basis. The bar was not over run with people and there were plenty of bar staff to be seen. It seems they needed guidance and there was a lack of any here. Food was a disgrace, when our food finally arrived it was cold, congealed on the plate and despite numerous requests we were not served the accompanying sauces etc. that were supposed to come with the dishes. It's poor form when the guest has to go to the bar, get cutlery, napkins and other items required for a table setting and proceed to set their table before sitting down to eat. This happened despite many requests for thsee items which should have been put on the table once there has been an order for food taken. We cleared the dishes from our table after an hour of working around them and they were still sitting on the ajoining area another hour and a half later. After checking out we decided to have coffees before our journey home. Two Americanos took fifteen minutes to make and there was no crowd waiting to be served. If proof be needed the management should take a serious look at what the are offering And expecting people to pay for. Unfortunately we were booked in for two nights and stuck with staying. Fortunately for us, just before we checked out, we found out that the lock on our room was broken and our room, even though it seemed locked was open for the duration of our stay. What sort of management, housekeeping dose'nt do basic checks. Seems to be that management are not interested, customer books stay, pays hard earned money and get this treatment. Apologies from management don't earn this hotel any medals. The one saving grace here is, people who encounter this experience won't be returning or recommending the Westport Woods.

I booked this hotel for a long weekend to celebrate my husbands 40th. I wanted somewhere nice and special. For the price I expected more, disappointed to be honest, we stayed in room 410 and it was dusty and could have done with a good cleaning, there were drink marks on the cupboard and table tops. One bath towel for two people on the first night. Water glasses, yet no bottles of water which would be expected for the price. Shower and breakfast were ok. Staff were lovely, location was ok, if you are wearing heels then you'd need a short taxi ride into town. Hotel was average, I wouldn't recommend it if I'm honest unless you get a very good deal on it.

a short stay but a nice one, decent breakfast and lovely staff . 10 to 15 minute walk into town and a 5 minute walk to the harbour. overall a good location, and will stay again. the only negatives were a dodgy remote for the TV, and the bathrooms are a little tired
