    • Busy beachfront area/Ok stay

Staff here really friendly.Went in August and was not hugely impressed. Was expecting something more I guess. Hotel was very busy but it was the peak Holiday season . You are on the beachfront which is a positive and close to the sea. There is a restaurant which offers good food. Went for half board and as there isnt a local supermarkets so this was a must in my opinion . Also very busy as its a popular caravan/holiday location for the locals. Downfall is that its close to the very busy holiday park. We had to wait for the bus to go into city/Pula. Runs once a hour. There was entertainment in evenings. Sunbed issue lots of towels left on beds.. but seemed like people did this and didnt return. Some of the areas around pool dirty.

When we sort advice for a suitable part of Croatia from TUI Staff that had been to Croatia from Tui Cardiff , they said that Pula in Croatia was a central place to stay with lots of places to visit in the day. We indicated that in the evenings we also liked to get out and walk to taverns and where there was some activity. But this was not possible as this Hotel was over half an hour away by bus and the last returning bus was around 8.30pm/ 09.00pm and taxis were 30. The hotel was actually on the out skirts of another small Village and again walking to their taverns/ shops were 10 minutes away in darkness Had this been explained we would have looked for other suitable accommodation . On our arrival at 1000hrs there was no welcome drink not even water but told to go and purchase from a bar and await for a room to be available several hours later. This is a first in all my years of travel not to be welcomed with a drink. This Hotel had been taken over by Radisson Hotel. The accommodation suitable for weekend stays only. (This was evident by the hundreds of cars in their car park) The room was not suitable for 2 week stay with 40 kilos of luggage to unpack. A medium size wardrobe held some of the clothes on a 2 foot pole. Alongside this wardrobe were 4 small exposed shelves to house the remainder of clothes these were open for all cleaning staff to see. Two small bedside tables and a narrow table in front of the TV were the only areas to put other small items THERE WERE NO DRAWERS to keep out of site ones medication or equipment consequently half our clothing and other articles had to be taken in and out of suit cases. Maids when cleaning would try and polish these table surfaces not occupied and apply some unknown cleaning spray that alighted on my photographic equipment. The room itself had a grubby dirty looking carpet with layers of talc etc along the skirting boards with no attempt to vacuum it up , and likewise the balcony had never been cleaned on arrival I stepped on slither of glass and had to have front of house come and hoover broken glass up. The walls to the balcony were dirty and full of cobwebs. On our third day we had thunder hail and lightning and as we stayed in the room the cleaners came in and within 4 minutes flat had finished. I politely asked for the balcony floor to be cleaned and they proceeded to use our used bath towel that they already had used to wipe the sinks, toilet and floor with. With that I said that the balcony floor needs to be mopped out whereby they acquired a mop to clean the floor. That towel when washed was allocated to a visitor to use. Thats disgusting?? The towels in themselves were small and thread bare I had no choice but to take one down to show the General Manager who put his hands up and was concern with what we had endured. When one walks from the balcony into the room there is a further row of tiles on top of the existing balcony floor and every one stumps their toes against the lip on entering the room : even the Maids. This is a trip hazard. The corridor at times had an unpleasant whiff that would be masked with a febreze air freshener The restaurant which should be called a canteen as the tables and set out is like working mans canteen and resembled a cattle market with the volume of people scrambling for food. Food was of a poor quality and repetitive. No fresh juice in the morning that offered resembled a watery liquid a slow toaster needing 3 goes to brown the bread No cut fresh fruit and what fruit they had was of poor quality bitter or hard. Food made in quantity and left to go cold and stale. Long waits to our hot beverage machine. Likewise food at dinner was of poor quality chicken wings that were frozen were cooked in that solid frozen format and when cooked the end product resembled its frozen shape and funny taste. Joints of meat were never carved but hacked up into chunks as one would for a dog. The Staff behind the serving counter needed training. The staff clearing up and serving found it hard to communicate. NO WATER WAS PROVIDED buy it at 2 a bottle until I challenged management who said we could have free tap water which is drinkable. As for coffee to end ones dinner that too was at a cost. Around the pool was acceptable except broken parasols and their towels that were far too short and again threadbare. Guests would acquire beds in prime spots first thing in the morning and not use them until the late afternoon. Management did offer for our last few days a room that at least had more storage space and an enclosed row of shelves BUT NO Drawers. The replenishing of toiletry was hit or miss what one had and one constantly rang down for shortages for example there were no basic tissue paper for over a week. It is for all the above reasons that both Management at the Park Plaza Belvedere Hotel and the Tui Rep Mateja did not disagree what I have said and yes they had heard it before from other Guests. We have been miss sold this hotel as a 4 Star and its location. It barely can be classed as 3 Star and NEVER a PLATINUM Package Its location is not in or near Pula.

The hotel is well placed on its own beach and great bar amazing pools but very cold water in September indoor pool facilities are brilliant and hot. Our room had very stained carpets and limited space for clothes which spoilt an otherwise great room overlooking pools and sea , everything else is great. Drinks are very expensive in Croatia

Unfortunately, we had to wait a long time to check in, and when we did, we were shown a very small room on the 3rd floor. The room ( see front ) had a lot of threes in front of our balcony, so what is the point to pay extra money for a room without sea view??? The restaurant for breakfast had much better view for sure. The only plus of this property is the location, but nothing else that will encourage us to comeback in the future.
