Just returned from our holiday in Rethymno and the Palazzino di Corina and cant recommend it highly enough. The location is amazing and the hotel is beautiful. The rooms are high quality and just lovely. All the public areas are full of beautiful furniture and the pool courtyard is gorgeous. Breakfasts are fantastic with a really good range of choices that changes daily. The restaurant also serves excellent high quality food. The staff are all lovely and friendly. I would absolutely go back without any hesitation. It was a perfect holiday.

    • Great small and friendly hotel

Booked this hotel direct based on the reviews. Its located down the narrow side streets in the old part of Rethymno a couple of minutes walk from the old harbour. Staff were friendly, place was spotless and the room we had was quiet. AC worked well too. It can be a bit confusing finding the entrance to the hotel, especially if you arrive late in the evening in the dark its along a narrow side street (which you cant drive along) called Damvergi. Its about 100m along and the front door is normally open, with reception on the right as you walk in. Alternatively you can enter through the restaurant on Ioannou Mellssinou Street, then head past the plunge pool in the central courtyard to get to reception. Between April and November a lot of the small roads in the old part of town are closed to traffic. This means you have to get to the hotel from the western side of town. So, if you traveling from Heraklion dont take the first exit off the E75/E90, but take the exit on the Western side of Rethymno marked Rethymno and Atispopoulo. You then come back on yourself and pick up the road that runs around the Fortezza. If you have a car, as we had, I was worried that finding parking each day would be a nightmare. It is tricky but there is an unofficial car park at the end of Ioannou Mellssinou (the road that runs past the hotels restaurant) where it meets the road that runs around the Fortezza. We managed to find a space there most days, but found if you left it too late (i.e. after about 7pm) it got more difficult/impossible as people driving in for the evening also used it so it became full to bursting. You can also park along the road that runs round the Fortezza, but this too also fills up in the evening. Failing that there is a car park near the port (its a sliding scale and become 60 cents per hour after 6 hours) and also a few along the road past the hotels restaurant. These can also all get full in the evening in fact they will continue to accept cars when they are 100% full as they jam all the cars in and you leave your keys with the attendants who then sort them out later! We did this a couple of times in Crete and always got our car back okay! There are hundreds of restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. If you want to get away from the fairly busy touristy area head for the town square at the Western end of the old town (Iroon Politechniou Square) where there are a number of small restaurants opposite the town hall and a much more laid back atmosphere. There is also a restaurant on this side of the coast (just past where the unofficial car park is) which is a good spot to watch the sun set. The hotel is a good base for exploring the middle of Crete. Its about an hour twenty or so to Knossos and the same to Chania, slightly longer to Phaistos. We ended up driving across the island to the beaches on the south side most days the nearest being about 45 to 50 minutes away. If you want your own supplies for a picnic on the beach etc there is a handy supermarket about 100m from the hotel when you come out of the restaurant and turn right. You can buy rolls here that they have made up on site. The only downsides are poor Wifi and if you are using an extra bed for a 3rd person they are rather short (shades of Procrustes from the Greek mythology).

    • Amazing Hotel

We have just returned from a wonderful week staying at the beautiful Palazzino di Corina. Ideally situated in the old town area of the city, it was just a few minutes walk to the lovely Venetian harbour, coastal tavernas, main shopping areas, beach road, fortezza and bus station. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome by all the friendly and efficient staff. The pleasant courtyard was an oasis of calm and a great place to relax whilst planning our next excursion. Our room was inviting and well appointed with a balcony overlooking a nearby restaurant. It was kept immaculately clean with fresh towels provided daily. We had a fantastic holiday - it was a wrench to leave - so can't wait to return!

Perfect location close to the beach promenad for morning runs, the fortezza and all the shops, night clubs (which didnt disturbe us at all) and restaurant.

    • Peaceful little gem

      Reviewed 05 July 2019

The hotel is a charming old stone palace situated right in he heart of Rethymnon Old Town, but also only 2 minutes walk from the port so very handy for shops and restaurants. The staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful and the restaurant serves truly delicious food. Both the carpaccio of tuna and the calamares were superb. In spite of being central the hotel is very quiet, and the bed was very comfortable. The shower had plenty of hot water although some of the whizzy buttons to change it to a massage didn't work. There is a small plunge pool in the courtyard and a patio where you can sit and order drinks if you just want to chat. Breakfast is copious with decent coffee and there was lots of choice although not much fresh fruit. The only negative was the very poor quality wi-fi in my room which frequently dropped out and was very slow. I would definitely stay there again if I went back to Crete.
