I was a little worried about staying here after reading some of the old reviews but I can tell you the hotel is pleasant, the people are pleasant. The breakfast buffet is excellent. The mattress could have been better as it was hard from the start but at your request they bring you some cushiony mattress pads to compensate. We did not eat lunch or dinner on the premises so i can not give you an opinion there. All in all and for the price I give it a high 4 plus. No need to look elsewhere.

I spent two weeks in the hotel. It was lovely - the breakfast was good. Lots of seafood. It was largely the same every day (the pastries varied), but theres a good selection, and they can make a variety of eggs (the Eggs Benedict are pretty nice). Watch out ordering the pork chops - sometimes hey serve ribs instead. Get a view facing the ski slope if possible - the sun rises are gorgeous! Close to a lot of restaurants - easy walking distance to places to eat and places to visit (theater, museum, gift shop, park). The dinners are quite good too - I ate quite a lot of local salmon. Dinner service is slow paced - not a complaint, just something to be aware of. The rooms do run quite hot, and the thermostats dont appear to do anything, but the windows open, and I slept quite comfortably.

    • Worst hotel ever!!!

      Reviewed 30 August 2018

I was forced to stay at this hotel on several occasions as the others in the area were full. The hotel smells of burning coal, the rooms and small dark and dinghy. The aircon only works in the winter (how clever is that). Most of the staff are very poorly trained and are not very friendly. The food is horrific and the breakfast was something that they probably served in the local prisons as well. Overall it was the worst hotel expereicne I have ever had and I've travelled to some pretty terrible places with work. You could always smell cigarettes and there were a number of prostitutes in the lobby area every evening which is not very family friendly. Ultimately the staff are not trustworthy. I had missing laundry several times as well as items from my room. The staff also shared billing information with the client which is unacceptable as I was covering the room on my own dime. The place is better off flattened on the ground in a pile of garbage that it was built with.

    • Not bad.

Been here two times. The first time was so-so. Staff was extremely rude. The cleaner through out my food when I wasnt in my room. When I talked to reception nobody didnt even say sorry. Next time I stayed here two years later. The staff was really super sweet. Im a smoking person but I got a non-smoking room. Anyways its ok. The room is clear. Theres a big double bed, large bathroom. This time the view from my room was much better than previous time. You also can order something from the restaurant in your room. In my room I also had some food and drinks which are not free. And the prices are extremely high. If you are a foreigner take in mind that this price for a small box of crisps isnt normal. Right in front of the hotel you can find a bakery with good coffee and a supermarket. YES, therere 110V and 220V power sockets in the rooms! The one is in the room and another one in the bathroom. Breakfast starts at 6 am and ends at 10 am.

    • First Night in Russia

      Reviewed 15 June 2018

On a business trip to Sakhalin Island, my client booked me at the Pacific Plaza Hotel. Due to a short connecting flight in Japan, my luggage did not make it with me. Fortunately, the hotel had sufficient toiletries that helped me through the night. Since this was my first night in a Russian hotel, I have no previous experience for comparing to other Russian hotels. By international standards, the room was satisfactory and I enjoyed my stay. The breakfast in the morning is listed as starting at 6:30 AM which was going to make me miss breakfast. However, in actuality, the buffet breakfast was open by 6:00 AM which was very convenient and helpful The breakfast was very good and, overall, I enjoyed staying at the hotel.
